The second plenary session of the 108-storey Financial Tower Architectural Design Competition: Unique, different and classy designs from four leading consulting firms in the world . On May 14, 2024, at the Hanoi People's Committee, the Organizing Committee of the 108-storey Financial Tower Architectural Design Competition under the North Hanoi Smart City Project held the second plenary session, listening to four leading consulting firms in the world present and defend their architectural designs before the Competition Council. The four leading consulting firms in the world, including Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (USA), Gensler (USA), Farrells (UK) and Pelli Clarke & Partners (USA), presented their design ideas in detail and defended their architectural designs before the Competition Council members, including leading Vietnamese and international experts in the fields of construction, urban planning and architecture. The consulting units all showed their determination and focused their best efforts with the desire to create the next architectural work of art, following the works considered as new wonders of the world and new symbols for countries and territories such as the 163-storey Burj Khalifa (United Arab Emirates), the 128-storey Shanghai Tower (China), the 115-storey CITIC Tower (China), the 88-storey Petronas Twin Towers (Malaysia)... because the units all understood the wishes of the investor, the North Hanoi Smart City Development Investment Joint Stock Company, a joint venture between BRG Group (Vietnam) and Sumitomo Group (Japan) in the effort to create "a highlight work of a highlight project" in the heart of the whole of Vietnam.

Speaking after listening to the presentations at the second plenary session, Dr. Architect Phan Dang Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Architects - Chairman of the Selection Council, commented: " All four architectural options demonstrate the very careful, elaborate and dedicated investment of the consulting units. The consulting units have done in-depth research on Hanoi and Vietnam to build iconic architectural works, which are not only the highlight of the urban area but also a new symbol that shows the civilization and modernity of Hanoi, one of the thousand-year-old capitals of the world, as Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tuong Van, member of the Selection Council, expected at the first plenary session ."

Also according to the words of Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tuong Van at the first plenary session, " it will be very difficult for the Selection Council to choose the most suitable option among the magnificent architectural options of the world's leading consulting units ". At this second plenary session, the experts and experienced architects of the Selection Council will evaluate and score the competition options based on the agreed criteria, ensuring objectivity, transparency, compliance with State regulations and international law, and select the option with creative and unique architectural design ideas, meeting the vision and goals of the project, suitable for the requirements of modern and synchronous urban development, applying smart features and the most advanced technology in the world, creating a worthy symbol for the development era of Dong Anh district, of Hanoi capital and of Vietnam. It is expected that after completion, the 108-storey Financial Tower will be the tallest tower in Vietnam and one of the tallest buildings in Southeast Asia. The 108-storey Financial Tower is a modern, international-scale super complex located at the gateway connecting Noi Bai International Airport and Hanoi city with many functions such as offices, commerce, hotels, tourism... becoming a highlight of the urban landscape, contributing to promoting the economy and opening up many investment attraction opportunities for Hanoi and Vietnam.

Perspective of the North Hanoi Smart City project

The 108-storey Financial Tower is the highlight of the North Hanoi Smart City project (Dong Anh district, Hanoi) invested by the North Hanoi Smart City Development Investment Joint Stock Company (NHSC), a joint venture between BRG Group (Vietnam) and Sumitomo Group (Japan) with a total investment of 4.2 billion USD on a total area of ​​nearly 272 hectares.
