The commemorative speech presented by Provincial Party Secretary Hoang Quoc Khanh stated: Son La is a land with a long history of settlement of ethnic groups. On October 10, 1895, Son La province was officially established with the initial name of Van Bu province, and in 1904 it was changed to Son La.

During the process of formation and development, the ethnic people here have created a land rich in unique and valuable traditions. The patriotic tradition and history of struggle of the ethnic people of Son La province are always associated with the history of the nation, firmly protecting the borders of the Fatherland.

The Secretary of the Son La Provincial Party Committee affirmed that the people of all ethnic groups in Son La province, under the leadership of the Party Committee, together with the whole country, continue to promote the heroic tradition, overcome all difficulties and challenges, and gain great achievements in all fields of economy, society, national defense, security, building the political system and foreign affairs of the Party. The economic structure has shifted in a positive direction, in the right direction and in line with the economic development goals of the province. Agricultural production has developed in a sustainable direction, associated with the application of high technology and processing industry.

By 2025, Son La province has achieved extremely important achievements: the total product in the province (at current prices) in 2025 is estimated to reach 82,789 billion VND, equal to 1.5 times compared to 2020 at the beginning of the term; GRDP per capita in 2025 is estimated to reach 62 million VND/person/year, equal to 1.4 times compared to 2020, achieving the set target; the rate of poor households according to the poverty line for the period 2021-2025 decreased from 21.66% in 2021 to the end of 2025, estimated at 7.89%; the province has completed the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the province 5 months ahead of the Government's direction...

Recognizing the great contributions to the struggle for national independence, building and defending the Fatherland under the leadership of the Party, Provincial Party Secretary Hoang Quoc Khanh said that on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the province's founding, the Party Committee, government, army and people of all ethnic groups in Son La province were honored and proud to be awarded the First Class Labor Medal for outstanding achievements in fruit tree development, contributing to the economic and social development of the Northwest region and the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan emphasized that 130 years is a long journey, crystallized by the sweat, intelligence and patriotism of many generations of Son La people, of the mountain villages, of the ethnic people who together with the whole country maintained the border and built the Fatherland. Son La preserves a sacred memory, where every inch of land is soaked with sweat, tears and blood of many generations, merging with the glorious feats of arms of the nation.

The country was unified, Son La continued to face another war: the war against poverty, backwardness, and division by mountains and rugged terrain. However, continuing the heroic tradition, the will and belief of the Son La people once again created a victory of intelligence and determination in peacetime. From hardship, Son La, a sloping land, the source of the Ma and Da rivers, has now become the agricultural capital of the Northwest region, confidently entering a new stage, the stage of sustainable development, integration, and creativity.

Moc Chau plum, Song Ma longan, Yen Chau mango, Thuan Chau passion fruit, Son La coffee... have spread the flavor of the Northwest mountains and forests around the world.

The green tea hills, ecological farms, community models, roads opening the way for tourism, trade, knowledge and technology... are continuing to tell the proud story of change of the land that persistently turns difficulties into motivation. Son La farmers confidently participate in community institutions, plant trees together to protect the forest, do agriculture together while thinking about tourism, ecology and culture. The start-up story of the Thai ethnic women group associated with the Ara-Tay Coffee Cooperative is a beautiful image of a "Son La that innovates from the roots", when each person, each cooperative, each community becomes a creative subject of development.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly believes that the spirit of solidarity, self-reliance and aspiration to rise of the Party Committee, government and people of Son La province is an everlasting value. Son La has been, is and will continue to be a land of will and creativity, a “storyteller” of the Northwest mountains and forests in the era of the country's rise. Development is not only reflected in economic growth figures, but also includes the vitality of each village, the smile of each person, and the faith of the young generation.
