Inspecting the situation, visiting and encouraging the people of Diem Thuy commune, on behalf of the National Assembly leaders, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan sent condolences to the families who suffered heavy losses from the recent storm No. 11, sharing the difficulties and losses of the Party Committee, government and people of Diem Thuy commune.

Witnessing the severe impacts of storm No. 11 on the people of Diem Thuy commune, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly hopes and believes that, with the tradition of "the whole leaves cover the torn leaves, the less torn leaves cover the more torn leaves", the people in the commune will unite and support each other to overcome difficulties. The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly requested that the agencies and forces in the area continue to assign work, closely follow the situation, promote the spirit of self-reliance, and join in with the most urgent spirit to rescue and ensure food, medicine, and essential necessities for the households that are still separated and isolated, ensuring that no one goes hungry, cold, or hungry.

With the belief that "as long as there are people, there will be property", the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly also encouraged people to continue to have faith and unite to restore production and stabilize life.

Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly suggested that the leaders of Thai Nguyen province in general and Diem Thuy commune in particular actively carry out work to restore infrastructure; conduct environmental sanitation, prevent disease outbreaks after the water recedes; quickly stabilize the residential situation, and restore production and business activities.

During the inspection, visit and encouragement of the people of Diem Thuy commune, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan and the working delegation directly presented 10 gifts to 10 households in Chay hamlet, Diem Thuy commune - the poor households, the disadvantaged households, and people with meritorious services to the revolution in the area. At the same time, 190 gifts were sent to the People's Committee of Diem Thuy commune to present to policy households in the commune.

Reporting to the working delegation, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Diem Thuy Commune, Le Thanh Son, said that due to the influence of the circulation of storm No. 11 combined with the high-altitude wind convergence zone, from October 6 to the morning of October 8, there was prolonged heavy rain in Diem Thuy Commune, combined with the amount of rainwater from upstream, causing the water level on Cau River, streams and canals in the commune to rise, causing very serious flooding.

Statistics up to October 9 show that in Diem Thuy commune, 2 houses collapsed (Dong hamlet has 1 house, Dong Lu hamlet has 1 house). The number of flooded and isolated households is 3,238. The number of households that had to be evacuated is 1,413 (of which 12 hamlets were completely flooded). The total agricultural production area flooded is 1,112 hectares, of which 825 hectares of rice were flooded, 287 hectares of corn and crops were flooded, and 48 hectares of aquaculture were flooded. There were 4 schools and school sites flooded (school sites: Nga My Kindergarten; Thuong Dinh Kindergarten (hamlets: Ro, Dong Yen), Diem Thuy Kindergarten); Commune Police Headquarters; Thuong Dinh Health Station.

In recent days, the commune has mobilized more than 1,000 cadres, civil servants, public employees, soldiers, and grassroots hamlet cadres to serve the response to storm No. 11 and post-storm floods in the area. At the same time, there are support forces from Military School of Military Region 1 and the Defense Command of Region 3 - Song Cong to deploy the work of evacuating people, assets and providing relief to people in flooded and isolated areas.
