On the afternoon of October 10, in a solemn atmosphere at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (Xuan Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Party Central Committee member and Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh visited Most Venerable Elder Thich Tri Tinh, Deputy Dharma Master of the Council of Evidence, Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh respectfully visits the Most Venerable Thich Tri Tinh.

Venerable Elder Thich Tri Tinh became a monk at the age of 15 and was ordained by Patriarch Thich Thanh Khanh at Trung Hau Pagoda ( Vinh Phuc , now part of Hanoi). He was an elder at the same time as the Third Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha - the late Venerable Elder Thich Pho Tue (1917 - 2021).

The 8th National Congress of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (2017) honored him as Deputy Dharma Master of the Sangha Council, where he has held the position until now.

Venerable Elder Thich Tri Tinh founded Linh Phong Thien Uyen in Vung Tau Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. In recent years, due to his old age, the Vinh Nghiem Temple invited him to Vinh Nghiem Pagoda to recuperate and receive medical care until his death.

At Giac Linh Duong, Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh and members of the delegation respectfully offered flowers and incense in memory and then walked around the coffin to bid farewell to Venerable Elder Thich Tri Tinh - a monk who had a long time of association and companionship with the activities of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh expressed her deep condolences to the Council of Evidence and the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

In the condolence book, Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh wrote: "I deeply mourn the passing of Most Venerable Elder Thich Tri Tinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha."

The Vice President of the National Assembly emphasized that the Venerable's monastic life is a shining example of dedication to religious and worldly affairs for generations of monks, nuns and Buddhist followers in Vietnam to follow. As the Vice Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, an exemplary citizen, the Venerable always demonstrates patriotism, participates in leading and guiding the activities of the Sangha, monks, nuns and Buddhist followers to unite, bond and actively participate in building and defending the Fatherland. In any position, the Venerable fully demonstrates the spirit of service, dedicating his whole life to the Dharma and the nation.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly stated that the passing of the Venerable is a great loss for the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, monks, nuns, and Vietnamese Buddhist followers at home and abroad.

On behalf of the leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front and with personal feelings, Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh sincerely offers condolences to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, disciples, relatives, family and Buddhists. May the Venerable's soul ascend to the Buddha's land.

According to the obituary of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Most Venerable Thich Tri Tinh was the Deputy Dharma Master of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha's Council of Evidence; Head of the Trung Hau Mountain Gate; Dharma Master of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda; Founder of Linh Phong Thien Uyen. He was also the Abbot of Linh Phong Thien Tu, Bao An Thien Tu, Bich Van Thien Tu, Kim Son Bao Thang Tu, Bao Hai Linh Thong Tu...

Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh wrote the condolence book and expressed condolences to the disciples of Venerable Elder Thich Tri Tinh.

The senior monk, the elder monk, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on October 8, 2025, the 17th day of the 8th month of the year At Ty, at Vinh Nghiem pagoda (Xuan Hoa ward). He lived for 94 years, and was a monk for 74 years.

The funeral ceremony was held at 4 p.m. on October 8. The coffin of the Venerable Elder Monk was enshrined at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda. The funeral ceremony began at 6 p.m. the same day.

The memorial service was held at 5:00 a.m. on October 12, after which the monk's coffin was escorted to the tower at Linh Phong Thien Uyen (Vung Tau ward).
