At the workshop, Ms. Hoang Thi Lien provided a lot of useful information about the Vietnamese pepper and spice industry, according to which Vietnam's pepper exports to the EU in the first 8 months of the year decreased in volume, reaching only 37,956 tons, down 19.9% over the same period in 2024. Pepper exports to Germany alone reached 8,780 tons, accounting for 23.1% of the total export volume to the EU, down 27%; however, the export turnover reached 91.35 million USD, up 43.3% over the first 8 months of 2024, mainly due to the sharp increase in pepper prices this year. Germany is Vietnam's largest pepper import market in the EU in the first 8 months of 2025.

According to Ms. Lien, Germany is a key market, a gateway for Vietnamese agricultural products to penetrate other European markets. The German market still has a lot of room and potential for Vietnamese enterprises. Currently, in its coordinating role, VPSA is making every effort with farmers and manufacturers to create products that meet the increasingly stringent requirements of importers, aiming to develop a sustainable and transparent supply chain.

Therefore, Vietnamese enterprises need to pay close attention, have a long-term, serious strategy if they want to successfully bring their products to the German market.
