Acting Foreign Minister holds phone call with British Foreign Secretary

Party Central Committee Secretary and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung had a phone call with British Foreign Secretary Yvette Copper on the evening of October 18.

During the phone call, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung congratulated Ms. Yvette Copper on her new and responsible position.

Expressing his delight at the effective cooperation results between the two countries in all fields in recent times, Acting Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to further strengthen the strategic partnership with the UK, Vietnam's leading important partner in Europe.

British Foreign Secretary Yvette Copper shared that the UK attaches great importance to strengthening friendship and cooperation with Vietnam; at the same time, expressed her belief that with the cooperation of Acting Minister Le Hoai Trung, the two countries' Foreign Ministries will continue to promote their role in coordinating bilateral cooperation and work together to promote cooperation in all aspects, aiming to elevate the bilateral relationship.

Ms. Yvette Copper affirmed that the British Foreign Office will continue to cooperate closely and effectively implement delegation exchanges and high-level contacts between the two countries as well as between the two sides' ministries and branches.

Appreciating the positive developments of the Vietnam-UK Strategic Partnership in recent times, Acting Minister Le Hoai Trung and UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Copper agreed on the need to promptly review cooperation aspects, promote the coordinating role, continue to closely follow action plans to implement the Strategic Partnership framework, promote the implementation of cooperation agreements between the two sides, negotiate and sign new cooperation documents, create a favorable legal framework to further strengthen cooperation in all fields, bring bilateral relations to a new stage, meet the expectations of the people of the two countries, for peace , stability, cooperation and sustainable development in the region and the world.

On this occasion, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung respectfully invited UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Copper to visit Vietnam at a suitable time. Minister Yvette Copper expressed her wish to soon have the opportunity to meet directly with Acting Minister Le Hoai Trung to discuss topics of mutual interest./.
