On October 19, at Channel 62, Zone 7, Vi Tan Ward, Can Tho City, a mini Ngo boat race (14 people) took place to celebrate the Óc-Om-Bốc Festival of the Khmer people in 2025.
The race aims to create a joyful atmosphere among the Khmer people on the occasion of the Oc-Om-Boc Festival in 2025; to consolidate and promote the cultural identity of the Khmer people in general and mini boat racing enthusiasts in particular, to gradually bring the race into local festivals.
According to Mr. To Minh Dien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Vi Tan Ward, Can Tho City, the race attracted ethnic minorities and a large number of local people to participate in a spirit of solidarity and affection.
In the coming time, the locality will organize annual racing competitions to contribute to the implementation of cultural, artistic, physical education and sports movements in the area.
Mr. Truong Thanh Long, Head of the Sau Say boat racing team, Dinh Hoa commune, An Giang province said: "This is the second year the boat team has participated in the tournament. This year, the boat team practiced 1 month in advance to be determined to achieve a higher ranking than last year. The boat team hopes that the locality will continue to organize the race, attracting more participants, contributing to improving health and solidarity."
This year's race has 37 participating teams, from Can Tho city and An Giang province, divided into 8 groups competing in a round robin of 500m to select the first and second teams in each group to advance to the next round.
After a day of fierce competition, the Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to the Xa Xiem Cu team, the second prize to the Sau Say Ta Mun team and the third prize to the Chua Thu Ba team./.Pham Hau Giang
