Rashford is currently playing for Barca on loan. |
Speaking on MyBettingSites , Parker - who played for MU from 1991 to 1996 - frankly said: "Marcus Rashford disappointed his teammates. He was lazy and did nothing. When I was playing, we considered each match a matter of survival. That spirit no longer exists in Rashford."
The 61-year-old former defender believes Rashford's downfall stems from a lack of motivation and discipline, which has led many England players to lose faith in him: "How many players in England want Rashford in their team? The answer is no one. They will never say it, but deep down they don't believe in him."
Rashford is currently on loan from Manchester United to Barcelona from June 30, 2026, with a €30 million buyout clause. However, Parker believes the 28-year-old striker will have a hard time finding a place in Barca's starting line-up: "He's playing okay, but I don't think Rashford is good enough to start in a Champions League final. With Yamal, Raphinha and Lewandowski, Rashford is simply not good enough."
Parker also suggested that Rashford's image is now more linked to politics than football, referring to the Englishman's frequent appearances in social and media campaigns off the pitch.
Before moving to Spain, Rashford was dropped from Manchester United's plans by manager Ruben Amorim and then loaned to Aston Villa. Parker believes that this is the result of an unprofessional attitude: "If you can't give your all for the club that nurtured you from a young age, and are willing to let your teammates down, then that says it all. You're in a bad position because you don't believe in yourself anymore."
In conclusion, Paul Parker emphasized: “I do not forget and do not forgive Rashford. He is talented, but lazy. And no player wants to play next to someone like that.”
