Sacombank denies fabricated information related to Chairman Duong Cong Minh

Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank) recently sent a document to the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Public Security , the Ministry of Information and Communications, and press agencies regarding the Facebook page named "THANG DANG".

Specifically, on April 1, a Facebook page named "THANG DANG" posted news about Mr. Duong Cong Minh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank), being banned from leaving the country due to his involvement with Ms. Truong My Lan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Van Thinh Phat Company, and some other information.

Sacombank affirms that the above information is completely fabricated and slanderous to defame Sacombank's leaders. Mr. Duong Cong Minh - Chairman of Sacombank's Board of Directors is completely unrelated to the Van Thinh Phat case and is not banned from leaving the country as spread by Facebook under the name "THANG DANG".

In a related development, on the morning of April 2, Sacombank's STB shares fluctuated strongly with 84 million shares being traded, at times falling to near the floor price. Closing the morning session, they fell 2.4% to VND30,650/share.

Previously, on June 12, 2023, the Inspectorate of the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications issued Decision No. 55/QD-XPVPHC to administratively sanction Mr. Dang Tat Thang - account owner THANG DANG for posting information that insulted the reputation and honor of Mr. Duong Cong Minh - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sacombank.

The above behavior violated the Government's regulations on management of provision and use of internet services and online information, which are regulated as administrative sanctions in Point a, Clause 1, Article 101 of Decree No. 15P dated February 3, 2020 of the Government regulating sanctions for administrative violations in the fields of post, telecommunications, radio frequencies, information technology and electronic transactions, as amended and supplemented by Decree No. 14 dated January 27, 2022 of the Government .
