Tet is an occasion for the extended family to gather together, enjoy delicious meals and share stories of life. Happy because the whole family can gather together, but Tet also makes many people more worried and busier than ever. However, since the development of digital technology , digital transformation activities have become a tool for families to reduce the burden of Tet shopping.
Visiting her child studying in France near Tet, Ms. Le Thi Huong ( Yen Bai ) was worried because the day to return home was only 2 days before Tet. Worried about the upcoming flight and worried about not having time to prepare for Tet, Ms. Huong was very pensive.
Seeing this, her daughter, who is currently studying abroad, suggested: “Why don’t you try ordering things online?” Ms. Huong had thought of this option, but up to now, her family has kept the tradition of wrapping banh chung, making gio, cooking vermicelli, etc., making traditional dishes that have been passed down from their ancestors for decades.
So she still hesitated to decide because she was afraid that buying online would not guarantee the quality. Moreover, the hobby of wandering around the Tet market has been ingrained in her family's lifestyle for a long time, now if she does not go shopping herself, she feels something is missing.
“Nowadays, everything is available online, and the quality is guaranteed. You should try it,” Ms. Huong’s daughter encouraged her again, then took her phone, installed some shopping apps, then gave it to her and said: “Here, we have all the items. Just choose them and put them in your cart, then order…”
Seeing that the “online shops” all had a wide variety of products, even beautifully packaged, Ms. Huong was engrossed in choosing. “Going to the Vietnamese Tet market” from Europe, Ms. Huong was engrossed in the internet for half a day.
She discovered that in Vietnam, there are supermarkets that accept orders for a whole tray of food for the 30th of Tet, including boiled chicken, beautifully presented, up to standard, and with fresh, delicious colors. Sticky rice of all kinds is diverse, rich, and also very eye-catching, more vivid than the sticky rice she cooked herself. Fried spring rolls are golden brown; ham and sausage are cut into beautifully decorated pieces. The supermarket also suggests additional accompanying items for her to choose from, such as drinks, wine, incense, etc.
Not only that, Ms. Huong also ordered Tet items for all 3 days of Tet with full of candies, dried fruits, nuts, lucky money envelopes,... nothing was missing. She also ordered home decorations. What she was most satisfied with was that when ordering online, the shop always called to confirm the order with a caring, gentle voice. In addition, they also suggested many different options for her to choose from.
With just over a day left until her flight home, Ms. Huong felt relieved of the burden of shopping for Tet, spending the remaining time happily with her husband and daughter visiting beautiful places in France. This year, her daughter did not come home for the traditional Tet holiday, so these last days of the year, thanks to "digital transformation", she was able to "throw away" the burden of shopping for Tet, spending full time with her child.
Arriving home on the last day of the old year, Ms. Huong received all the items she had "shopped" for from Europe. On the afternoon of the 30th of Tet, she also had time to go to the spring flower market with her friends to buy the most beautiful peach blossoms. She had never felt Tet so easy.
During the days leading up to Tet, instead of going out to the street to choose, many people prefer to shop for Tet items online because it saves time, avoids crowds, carrying heavy loads, and especially the risk of overcharging and price gouging. To meet the needs of customers during the peak of Tet, businesses have increased the variety of goods on platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, and Zalo.
Just sitting in one place with a few clicks of the mouse, customers can easily choose any type of product they are interested in with full information about the design, size, material of the product... Consumers can also easily compare prices on many different websites, the accompanying incentives, ensuring that the item they buy is truly useful.
In addition, the safe and fast home delivery service helps customers save a lot of valuable time. Many online shopping websites are applying various payment methods to make shopping services more convenient. Consumers can pay cash directly upon receiving the goods without worrying about the quality of the products.
Vietnam currently has nearly 70 million smartphone users, among the top 10 countries with the highest smartphone usage rate in the world . With a phone, every citizen, no matter who they are, where they are, urban or rural, has been, is and will continue to participate in digital transformation in their own way. In particular, today many people have reduced the pressure of shopping for Tet thanks to digital transformation.
