Mr. Vo Quang Lam, former Deputy General Director of EVN (left) and Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngoc, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade (right) awarded first prize in the article category.
According to the Organizing Committee of the contest, after 3 months of launching, it has received 525 articles and 48 video clips with rich content from authors in many professions such as housewives, workers, students, teachers, doctors from all regions, including remote borders and islands. From the quality articles posted on Thanh Nien newspaper channels, the Organizing Committee has selected 150 articles for the preliminary round. Most of the entries received great attention from readers, shown through the number of views and enthusiastic comments from readers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Quoc Bao, Chairman of the Board of Members of EVNHCMC, said that in recent times, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation has ensured safe and continuous electricity supply, serving the lives of more than 14 million people in the city, providing enough electricity for socio-economic development activities after the merger of Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau with Ho Chi Minh City.
Commercial electricity output in the first 8 months reached 37.2 billion kWh, up 0.69% over the same period. Electricity saving work in the area continued to achieve many positive results, in the first 8 months of 2025 reaching 814.1 million kWh, accounting for 2.19% of commercial electricity, up 17.19% over the same period. This result was achieved thanks to EVNHCMC's synchronous implementation of many solutions: From coordinating with departments, branches and localities to strictly implement Directive 20/CT-TTg and Decision 6012/QD-UBND; to mobilizing customers to participate in the "Green Family" movement, activities responding to "Earth Hour 2025", as well as promoting multi-platform communication on economical and efficient energy use. Programs in coordination with the education sector, press, television and youth movements have widely spread the message of using electricity economically and safely in schools, in every family, neighborhood and the whole community.
Along with production and business tasks, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation also pays special attention to building a culture of safe and economical electricity use in the community. The writing contest "Making electricity savings a habit - 3rd time" with the theme "Safety and savings - sharing experiences" is a vivid proof.
