On October 22, Ninh Binh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital announced that the unit's Obstetrics Department doctors had just performed a cesarean section to preserve the uterus of a pregnant woman with a ruptured uterine fibroid at the 29th week of pregnancy.

Previously, the pregnant woman LTBN (born in 1980, residing in Yen Khanh commune, Ninh Binh) was pregnant naturally for the third time. At the 29th week of pregnancy, the pregnant woman was hospitalized with abdominal pain and difficulty breathing. The patient had a history of uterine fibroids discovered a year ago, but had not received treatment.

After examination and consultation with the Obstetrics and Imaging Department, the doctors diagnosed that the pregnant woman had abdominal bleeding due to a ruptured uterine fibroid and decided to perform a cesarean section combined with tumor removal and blood transfusion to ensure the safety of the mother and fetus.

The doctor said that this is a complicated and rare case. During the surgery, the patient faces many risks such as a large tumor, limited surgical field, unable to separate the uterus and having to remove it, bleeding, and the baby having respiratory failure due to prematurity...

After more than 1 hour of surgery, the surgery ended successfully, finding the rupture point on the uterine fibroid - the mother had the tumor removed, preserving the uterus. The premature baby weighed 1200g, and was successfully resuscitated by the neonatologist.

The baby is being closely monitored in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The baby is receiving surfactant, mechanical ventilation, intravenous nutrition, and antibiotics.
