Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Nhi, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City, spoke at the workshop.
According to ADB experts, Can Tho is the "heart of the Mekong Delta" but is facing many serious challenges due to climate change such as saltwater intrusion, floods, and extreme weather events. The city has economic goals such as becoming a regional logistics center, promoting agricultural, industrial and tourism development. To ensure these goals are sustainable, integrating environmental factors and climate resilience is very important.

The technical assistance project "Developing an action plan integrating climate change response and green growth for the 2023-2025 period, with a vision to 2050 in Can Tho City" supported by ADB has helped Can Tho City have a comprehensive approach to integrating green growth plans, analyzing risks, connecting investment opportunities...
At the workshop, representatives of the Ministry of Finance shared information on the National Green Growth Strategy. The project team presented the results of the greenhouse gas inventory and discussed in depth the proposals for prioritizing investment in developing climate change-resistant infrastructure, green tourism, innovation, environmentally friendly green industry, etc. The reports and outputs from the project completed at the workshop will be an important basis for Can Tho City to select priority investment projects for the goal of green and sustainable growth in the coming time.
