A team at China's FAST Observatory is also said to be analyzing the same information.
British science filmmaker Simon Holland, who has worked on projects with the BBC, Nat Geo, Smithsonian TV, and NASA, revealed to The Mirror that two teams of astronomers are racing to be the first to confirm the possible existence of an extraterrestrial civilization.
Promising signal near Proxima Centauri
“We have discovered a non-human civilization in our galaxy, and humans are still unaware of its existence,” said Mr. Holland.
He said a source from the Breakthrough Listen program sponsored by Facebook boss, billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, shared the new discovery with him. Breakthrough Listen is a scientific research project based in Oxford (UK) to discover extraterrestrial civilizations.
“They got evidence of non-human technological traces a few years ago, thanks to the Parkes Observatory in Australia,” said Mr. Holland, and they named it BLC-1.

The British filmmaker believes BLC-1 is considered the most promising target because it appears to have come from a single source.
Specifically, the initial radio signal was detected by the Parkes Observatory in April 2019 at a frequency of 982 MJz, and from the direction of the area around Proxima Centauri, the nearest star less than 4.2 light years from Earth.
Mr. Holland said that he contacted the lead investigator, Dr. Andrew Simeon, Director of the SETI Research Center in Berkeley (California, USA) and also the operator of the Breakthrough Listen program and asked if BLC-1 was a "technological trace".
Dr. Simeon said his team is still in the research phase and will release information if there is enough necessary data.
Are aliens living among us?
China is on the track
Mr. Holland predicted that the team of astronomers in Oxford (UK) could announce the discovery in November, after collecting more evidence to confirm this discovery.
However, Mr Holland warned that the Chinese may be trying to beat the team in the UK to the news, which is rushing to analyse data collected by the FAST observatory in Guizhou province about BLC-1.
China has not commented on the above information.
