On the afternoon of September 18, Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company Limited (Dai-ichi Life Vietnam) responded after Tuoi Tre Online published an article: "A group of students unexpectedly generated taxable income even though they did not work at Dai-ichi Life Vietnam" .
Dai-ichi Life Vietnam: Will strictly handle all violations
According to Dai-ichi Life Vietnam, regarding income payments to Le Hai (22 years old, student at the University of Economics and Law, Ho Chi Minh City), before receiving Hai's feedback and complaints, the company had paid in accordance with the provisions of Hai's agency contract/agency management contract by transfer through a bank account, according to the account holder's name provided to the company.
Immediately after receiving direct feedback and complaints from Hai, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam proceeded to verify.
The company has worked and discussed with Hai many times. Due to the complexity of the case, the company needs time to verify comprehensively to have complete and accurate information about all relevant information: studying and taking the insurance agent certificate exam, signing the agency contract/agency management contract and paying Hai's income.
After a period of verification at the company, in order to thoroughly and comprehensively investigate and resolve the case, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam decided to transfer all related information to the police.
The company pledges to cooperate closely with the police to strictly handle this case, and will transparently inform the investigation results.
Dai-ichi Life Vietnam affirms its commitment to operating with integrity and compliance with the law, always respecting the rights and personal information of customers, partners and participants of the company's training programs.
The company affirms that it does not support any violations and will strictly handle any individuals or agents who are discovered to have taken advantage of Hai's information to sign agency contracts or open bank accounts in violation of the law and internal regulations.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Law protects students' rights
Regarding the incident, the Association of Lawyers of the University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) said that the unit will accompany and protect the legal rights and interests of Le Hai, Tran Nhat Ly (recently graduated students) and Le Phuoc Hieu (both 22 years old, students of the University of Technology).
Master Ngo Minh Tin, Head of the Lawyers Association of the University of Economics and Law, said that with the responsibility of protecting students and protecting society, the unit will continue to accompany student Le Hai as well as students from other training institutions to work with Dai-ichi Life Vietnam, to find a reasonable ending.
Regarding this incident, Mr. Tin reminded students when participating in activities to earn extra income: "You should consult your teachers before participating in activities outside of school. Before signing any document, you must read the content carefully and keep a copy.
If you discover anyone using your name or signature illegally, immediately report it to the authorities (police, tax authorities, or business management agencies), or ask for help from teachers, family."
"You should also practice legal vigilance, always questioning the legality of documents and transactions," Mr. Tin shared.

Attending a 400,000 VND course, students were "assigned" an income of 37 million VND
Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Le Hai confirmed that he did not provide any bank account information when participating in a short-term insurance course and had never received any money from Dai-ichi Life Vietnam.
As reported, a group of students were unexpectedly recorded as having taxable income paid by Dai-ichi Life Vietnam when checked on the E-Tax system, typically Le Hai was recorded as having taxable income of more than 37 million VND.
These students confirmed that they had never worked or signed an agency contract with Dai-ichi Life Vietnam, but had only previously attended a short-term insurance course posted on Facebook to receive 400,000 VND in wages. During the course, they sent their ID photos, portraits, and signature samples to the recruiter.
After discovering and complaining about the above incident, Hai received a photo of a "contract confirmation document and agency contract/agency management contract" via Zalo message from a person named Long.
This document shows that Hai was the one who created and signed it on January 20, 2024, and was authorized by the Deputy General Director of Sales of Dai-ichi Life Insurance Vietnam Co., Ltd. to sign and stamp the document. Hai affirmed that he did not sign it and had never known about the existence of the document.
The consequence of the above is that Hai's father lost the right to claim Hai as a dependent and was not entitled to a personal income tax refund.
