Computer sales continued to record a decline for 6 consecutive quarters, due to the difficult economic situation and weak purchasing power. Apple was the only manufacturer that maintained positive growth.

According to IDC report, global PC shipments in the second quarter decreased by 13.4% compared to the same period in 2022. This is the 6th consecutive quarter that the computer market recorded a decline.

Experts say the difficult economic situation, combined with a sharp decline in demand from both personal and business users, has severely impacted the computer market. However, the results are still significantly better than initial expectations.

"The amount of inventory in the distribution channels has been dragging the market down. This problem is gradually decreasing, but vendors are still trying to find ways to clear the inventory from before," said Jitesh Ubrani, senior director at IDC.

Lenovo continues to be the world's largest computer manufacturer with a market share of 23.1%. The next positions belong to HP (21.8%), Dell (16.8%), Apple (8.6%) and Acer (6.4%). Of which, Apple is the only manufacturer that still maintains a positive growth rate.

According to Ryan Reith, a senior analyst at IDC , the PC industry has faced a serious supply-demand imbalance over the past five years. He added that studies show that users will prioritize smartphones over computers.
