GAC Aion i60 electric SUV - "copy" of Toyota bZ3X for only 369 million VND

After Toyota bZ3X achieved sales of more than 33,000 vehicles, GAC suddenly announced the Aion i60 model developed from the same platform but with a "softer" selling price, starting at only 369 million VND.

After Toyota bZ3X achieved sales of more than 33,000 units, GAC suddenly announced the Aion i60 model developed from the same platform. This small SUV will be launched in November 2025 with two BEV and PHEV options, refined design and more accessible price.

The Toyota bZ3X is a small electric SUV co-developed by Toyota and GAC, launched in China in March 2025. This model has a starting price of 109,800 yuan (about 405 million VND) and achieved cumulative sales of 33,748 vehicles as of August 2025, according to China EV DataTracker.

Meanwhile, the newly announced GAC Aion i60 2026 has a cheaper price, expected to start from 100,000 yuan (equivalent to about 369 million VND). The car will have 2 engine options BEV (pure electric) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid).

The Aion i60 is developed on the AEP modular architecture similar to the bZ3X and Aion V, the SUV that was launched in Europe within the framework of IAA Mobility 2025. These two models have many common details such as windshield, car doors, rearview mirrors and body contours, but the Aion i60 is easily recognized by its own headlight cluster, front bumper and taillights.

The car has dimensions of Length x Width x Height of 4685 x 1854 x 1660mm, wheelbase of 2,775mm, slightly larger than Toyota bZ3X. Unladen weight of 1,910kg, using 18 or 19 inch rims, 5-seat arrangement.

The GAC Aion i60 has two powertrain options: BEV and PHEV. The BEV version is equipped with a single electric motor with a capacity of 165kW (221 horsepower), with a maximum speed of 160km/h.

The PHEV version combines a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine (74 kW / 101 hp) with a 165kW electric motor, along with a 29,165kWh LFP battery for a pure electric range of 160km according to CLTC standards.

The Aion i60 has completed its application for a sales license in China and will be on shelves in November 2025. However, the price of only 100,000 yuan is not significantly cheaper than the Toyota bZ3X, leading many experts to consider this a "self-competitive" move between GAC Aion and the GAC Toyota joint venture, when both products share the same platform and have similar market positioning.
