As reported by the People's Representative Newspaper, this afternoon, October 20, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man hosted a welcoming ceremony for Hungarian National Assembly Chairman Kover Laszlo on his official visit to Vietnam. Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and National Assembly Chairman Kover Laszlo held talks.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man warmly welcomed National Assembly Chairman Kover Laszlo on his official visit to Vietnam; assessing the visit as having important significance, taking place on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1950-2025), contributing to further consolidating the traditional friendship between the two countries and enhancing cooperation on the parliamentary channel.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the relationship between the two countries has a long history of friendship and cooperation. Hungary is one of the first 10 countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. The traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries has been cultivated and developed by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that Vietnam always remembers and is grateful for the valuable support that Hungary has given Vietnam in the past struggle for independence and national reunification, as well as in the current construction and development; affirmed that Vietnam always values ​​and wishes to promote the traditional friendship and good multifaceted cooperation with Hungary, Vietnam's first comprehensive partner in Central Eastern Europe.

The President of the Hungarian National Assembly respectfully thanked the President of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, the leaders and people of Vietnam for the warm, friendly and thoughtful welcome given to the Hungarian National Assembly delegation; highly appreciated and congratulated the great achievements that Vietnam has attained in the cause of Renovation, national development as well as international integration; expressed his belief that the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam will be a great success, bringing Vietnam into a new era of development, prosperity and wealth.

The Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly affirmed that in its Eastward foreign policy, Hungary always considers Vietnam the most important partner in Southeast Asia and wishes to develop cooperative relations with Vietnam in all fields.

The Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly assessed that although the two countries are far apart in terms of geography, culture and history, there are few countries with which Hungary has such close relations as with Vietnam; emphasizing that the two sides still have much room for cooperation in economics, trade, investment, tourism, education and training.

In a friendly, sincere and open atmosphere, the two sides informed each other about the situation in each country and the activities of the two National Assemblies; highly appreciated the positive developments in the bilateral relationship in recent times, demonstrated through meetings and contacts between high-ranking leaders and all levels, as well as the dynamic development in cooperation between the two National Assemblies in recent times with the two sides regularly exchanging delegations of National Assembly leaders, Committees, Friendship Parliamentarians' Groups, and closely coordinating at inter-regional and international parliamentary forums, especially at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The two leaders agreed to continue to increase contacts and exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones, through all channels of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly and people-to-people exchanges to further enhance political trust and mutual understanding, as a foundation to promote and expand bilateral cooperation in all fields.

Discussing the cooperation situation between the two countries' National Assemblies, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man shared some highlights of the recently opened 10th Session of the 15th National Assembly; emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the two National Assemblies in the bilateral relationship.

The two sides agreed to increase the exchange of delegations of high-ranking leaders of the National Assembly, specialized committees and Friendship Parliamentarians' Groups to exchange and share information and experience in parliamentary activities; cooperate in supervising, urging and supporting the Government to effectively implement high-level agreements and commitments; agree on the main theme of the 6th Legislative Workshop between the two National Assemblies, scheduled to take place in the first half of 2026; promote close coordination and mutual support at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums such as the IPU and the Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership ( ASEP) to contribute to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

At the talks, the two sides affirmed the importance of ensuring peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, and resolving disputes by peaceful means in accordance with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man thanked and asked the National Assembly and authorities at all levels of Hungary to continue creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Hungary to integrate and stabilize their lives.

After the talks, Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly Kover Laszlo and the Hungarian National Assembly delegation attended the plenary session of the 10th Session of the National Assembly. In the evening of the same day, Speaker of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man hosted a reception for the Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly and the Hungarian National Assembly delegation.
