The largest OCOP product scale in the country
One of the important goals throughout Program No. 04-CTr/TU of the 17th City Party Committee is to increase income and improve the lives of people in rural areas. Consistent with the above goal, the city identifies the OCOP Program as an important solution to realize the goals of Program No. 04-CTr/TU through promoting rural economic development and developing OCOP products.

Since the OCOP Program was launched in 2019, Hanoi has always been among the most effective localities in implementation. A report from the Office of the City's New Rural Development Program Coordination shows that in the first 9 months of 2025, Hanoi's districts have completed the assessment of 146 new OCOP products, including 5 4-star products and 141 3-star products. To date, the entire city has assessed and recognized 3,463 OCOP products, including 9 5-star products, 19 potential 5-star products, 1,576 4-star products and 1,859 3-star products. With this result, Hanoi accounts for more than 20% of the total number of OCOP products in Vietnam - a number that clearly demonstrates its leading role in developing regional specialty products.
According to Ngo Van Ngon, Deputy Chief of Office of the Hanoi New Rural Development Program Coordination Office, not only does the OCOP program account for a large proportion of products, but the OCOP program implemented in Hanoi always receives attention, response, and active participation from departments, localities, and different economic sectors.
At present, 100% of communes and wards have products participating in the evaluation and classification of OCOP products. The whole city has recorded 100 craft villages, 134 cooperatives and thousands of businesses and business households with OCOP products. This shows the wide spread and interest of units, localities and economic sectors in the OCOP Program.
In the coming time, Hanoi will continue to coordinate with communes and wards to organize product evaluation and classification according to regulations. Support subjects to upgrade OCOP products that have been evaluated and classified annually to participate in the OCOP product upgrading competition.
Expanding the market, enhancing the brand
Along with the work of evaluating and classifying products, Hanoi also focuses on promoting trade promotion activities, promoting and connecting the consumption of OCOP products. Every year, the city also focuses on organizing events, fairs, seminars, and weeks to promote the recovery and development of trade service activities, trade connection, trade promotion, stimulate consumption, support OCOP product owners in production and business to promote the production of quality products, encourage the development of goods and products associated with modern, civilized and electronic trade and service types.

Since the beginning of 2025, dozens of events introducing OCOP products associated with regional culture have been organized, creating a space for connecting consumers and businesses. Events such as the Southern OCOP Week at Thong Nhat Park or the Red River Delta OCOP Fair in Tay Ho have attracted a large number of people in the capital. Customers have directly experienced and purchased regional agricultural products, while helping businesses and cooperatives expand their markets and increase brand awareness.
In addition, the city has developed 115 points to introduce and sell OCOP products; built 16 Creative Design Centers to introduce, promote and sell OCOP products, craft villages associated with tourism in the city, creating conditions for consumers in the capital to identify and consume OCOP products.
Hanoi is also coordinating with provinces and cities to build more than 1,500 safe agricultural and food supply chains and 172 domestic production and consumption linkage chains, ensuring stable output and improving the competitiveness of the capital's OCOP products.
Currently, the Department of Agriculture and Environment is coordinating with the Hanoi New Rural Development Program Coordination Office to advise the City People's Committee to issue the OCOP Program for the period 2026-2035. The focus of the new phase is to upgrade the quality of existing products, develop new product groups associated with innovation, design and regional cultural values. In particular, Hanoi will continue to evaluate, classify and upgrade existing OCOP products, support entities in building brands, expanding consumption channels and developing sustainable agricultural value chains.
In order for the OCOP Program to truly bring value to the subjects, in the coming time, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment hopes that the Departments of Agriculture and Environment of provinces and cities will continue to pay attention and closely coordinate in connecting supply and demand; support subjects to participate in programs to promote, introduce, and promote trade of agricultural products and food organized by Hanoi to promote the development of the OCOP Program, bringing practical benefits to economic sectors and all people.
With these methodical steps, Hanoi is gradually creating an OCOP brand that is not only large in quantity but also strong in quality, worthy of being the leader in developing OCOP products, promoting the rural economy.
