Training on investigation and information collection on the socio-economic situation of 53 ethnic minorities in 2024

On June 25-26, the Quang Tri Provincial Statistics Office organized a training conference on investigation and information collection on the socio-economic situation of 53 ethnic minorities in 2024 for more than 50 investigators and supervisors at the provincial level and 5 districts: Huong Hoa, Dakrong, Cam Lo, Gio Linh and Vinh Linh.

2024 is the third time the investigation and information collection will be conducted nationwide (the first investigation was conducted in 2015, the second in 2019).

The purpose is to collect information on population, housing conditions of ethnic minority households and socio-economic conditions to reflect the socio-economic situation of 53 ethnic minorities to compile statistical indicators belonging to the national statistical indicator system and the statistical indicator system on ethnic affairs to serve the construction and planning of socio-economic development policies for ethnic minority regions in the period 2026 - 2030; as a basis for updating the information system and statistical data on ethnic minorities in Vietnam.

The survey and information collection applied the method of direct collection to each household to interview information providers and enter full answers into electronic forms on mobile devices.

During the training period, trainees will learn important contents, including: Decisions and investigation plans. Some general concepts related to households, ethnic minority households, actual permanent residents of households, specific demographics and investigation areas, commune/ward base maps, housing, residence and household lists.

Duties of investigators and team leaders. Some regulations in investigation. Instructions on how to ask questions, record information in the investigation form; instructions on how to install and use capi software.

Discuss, exchange, and answer questions and issues arising in practice in localities to be ready to conduct the investigation well, ensuring that the collected information results are objective, complete, accurate, and timely.

In Quang Tri, the survey was conducted in 93 localities and 36 communes/towns on the survey list in all 5 districts: Huong Hoa, Dakrong, Cam Lo, Gio Linh and Vinh Linh. The time to collect information on household and commune ballots starts from 0:00 on July 1 - August 15, 2024
