This is an activity within the National Target Program on socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the 2021-2030 period (of which phase I is from 2021-2025).

Over the past 5 years, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has organized 15 typical traditional festivals, built 36 models for preserving traditional cultures of ethnic minorities, provided equipment for cultural houses, opened training courses, fostered expertise and professionalism, taught intangible culture and 29 research programs.
The project also provides funding for 69 tourist destinations to renovate and upgrade service quality, and invest in building 48 traditional cultural villages and hamlets.
In addition, 3,220 cultural houses and sports areas in ethnic minority villages and hamlets are also supported to build new ones or renovate and upgrade them.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy said that the project has contributed to spreading, restoring and preserving the core cultural identity of ethnic minorities associated with attracting investment in tourism, changing people's awareness, especially in remote areas.

Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi said that with the advantage of the largest area in the country, diverse terrain and rich ethnic culture, Lam Dong identified three pillars of socio-economic development, including cultural development and tourism.
In Lam Dong, the project has supported 111 sets of equipment for each cultural house in ethnic minority villages in the communes, supported the construction of 77 community bookcases for ethnic minority communes in the communes. Organized 36 classes to teach traditional musical instruments to ethnic minority youth in the communes. Supported the activities of 203 traditional art troupes in villages, remote areas, ethnic minority areas (re-equipping costumes, props, musical instruments or purchasing sound and lighting equipment to meet the minimum needs of practice and performance)...

At the summary meeting, many experts and managers gave opinions and proposed to continue implementing the project "Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development" in the period 2026 - 2030.
In particular, focusing on restoring, preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, training and fostering cadres working in ethnic, cultural, sports and tourism sectors, supporting cultural facilities and equipment for ethnic minority and mountainous areas to improve the level of cultural enjoyment for ethnic minorities associated with developing community tourism, with priority given to ethnic minorities with very few people.
