This afternoon, June 21, Tan Son Nhat International Airport held an urgent meeting to discuss how to deal with the taxi companies that violated regulations at the airport. Tan Son Nhat Airport leaders assessed that the fraudulent behavior of these taxi companies has greatly affected the reputation, image and brand of Tan Son Nhat Airport.

After reaching an agreement between the parties, Tan Son Nhat Port decided to temporarily suspend passenger transport services by taxi at the port for two units, Saigon Taxi Transport Company Limited and Saigon Tourist Transport Joint Stock Company, to handle related violations, starting from 00:00 on June 22.

Also today, Saigontourist Group filed a lawsuit against Saigon Transport Corporation to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court. A representative of Saigontourist Group said that Saigon Tourist Corporation, whose foreign name is Saigontourist Group, abbreviated as Saigontourist, has registered an exclusive trademark that does not coincide or cause confusion with any other trade name in the same field and business area.

Since 1999, Saigontourist Group has always used the brand “SAIGONTOURIST” in all types of documents, papers, contracts, and media. In other words, many organizations and individuals at home and abroad know the brand “SAIGONTOURIST” belonging to Saigon Tourist Corporation.

However, Saigon Tourist Transport Joint Stock Company is currently using the trademark “SAIGONTOURIST” and the trade name “SAIGON TOURIST” to do business in hotels - tourist areas, restaurants, travel and entertainment services, and transportation services.

"The use of the trademark "Saigontourist" and the trade name Saigon Tourist by Saigon Transport Company is a violation of the law on intellectual property protection, leading to customers confusing the goods and services provided by Saigon Transport Joint Stock Company with those provided by Saigon Tourism Corporation or confusing Saigon Transport Joint Stock Company as a unit belonging to the Saigontourist Group system. This seriously affects the reputation and brand of our company" - the representative of Saigontourist Group emphasized.

It is worth mentioning that from 2016 to 2017, in the spirit of goodwill, Saigontourist Group repeatedly requested Saigon Transport Company to stop the copyright infringement of the trade name and trademark with the sign "SAIGONTOURIST" but this unit did not cooperate. Therefore, Saigontourist Group decided to file a lawsuit.
