17-year-old Vietnamese racer dominates Southeast Asian racing championship

Alex Sawer Hoang Dat became the first Vietnamese to win all races in a season of the F4 Southeast Asia Championship.

Over the past 2 years, the name Alex Sawer Hoang Dat has become increasingly prominent in the Southeast Asian racing scene. He has continuously won races in the F4 Southeast Asia (F4 SEA) 2025.

Dat participated in the first race of F4 SEA 2025 in Sepang (Malaysia), which took place in May. He immediately made an impression when he won all three races in this race.

Dat then re-established a similar dominance in the second race of F4 SEA 2025, taking place in Buriram (Thailand). He continued to win all three rounds in this race.

It was not until the third race, taking place in Chonburi (Thailand), that Dat had a rare opportunity to give up the number 1 position to his opponent.

However, Dat still won the second round of the race, and gave up the overall first place in this race to Australian Seth Gilmore, also a teammate in the Evans GP racing team (Australia).

After 3 consecutive races from May to July, F4 SEA took a break for the past 2 months, before returning with the 4th race also taking place in Sepang (Malaysia).

In the first race on September 6, Dat excelled over strong racers from European countries, Korea, and Japan (invited to the race) to win.

This victory helped Hoang Dat gain 250 points in the F4 SEA 2025 overall ranking, leaving his closest rival behind by nearly 100 points, thereby almost securing the championship. Dat will most likely become the first Vietnamese to win the F4 Southeast Asian racing championship.

Hoang Dat has a British father and a Vietnamese mother, both of whom support their son's passion for speed.

At the age of 17, Dat was considered the number 1 Formula 4 (F4) racer in Vietnam. He used to join many foreign go-kart teams (a miniature car, modeled after an F1 racing car) such as Simon Racing (Thailand) or Falcon Racing Team (Netherlands)...

Since 2023, Dat has joined the F4 and F3 racing circuits, becoming the first Vietnamese racer to enter the international professional racing arena. He has also continuously achieved proud milestones.
