With a squad of 7 foreign players and playing at home, Nam Dinh Club encountered difficulties and let Svay Rieng attack from the first minutes.
The visiting team's foreign players were very excited, causing trouble for Nam Dinh and creating two dangerous breakthrough opportunities in the 3rd and 25th minutes, but luckily for the home team, goalkeeper Caique Santos made excellent saves.
After half an hour of pressure, Nam Dinh had their first dangerous attack to respond. In the 30th minute, Percy Tau and Lam Ti Phong took turns shooting consecutively towards Svay Rieng's goal but the balls were not on target.
Nam Dinh did not play better than Svay Rieng but in the end they were the team to take the lead. Coach Vu Hong Viet's introduction of To Van Vu to replace Mitchell Dijks changed the game.
In the 36th minute, after Tran Van Cong's long-range shot failed, Lucas Alves got the ball and crossed for Lam Ti Phong to tap in from close range to open the score.
While Svay Rieng had not yet regained their composure, Nam Dinh Club once again seized the opportunity to score to raise the score to 2-0.
In the 40th minute, Kristoffer Hansen's long-range shot hit the post and rebounded. Lam Ti Phong once again appeared at the right time and place to tap the ball into the net from close range to increase the gap.
In the second half, Nam Dinh FC had to play with one less player because striker Mahmoud Eid received a red card in the 59th minute. The Palestinian foreign player clearly committed foul play when he deliberately kicked Svay Rieng in the leg when his opponent was down.
From here, with the numerical advantage, Svay Rieng easily dominated Nam Dinh. They had a situation where the ball hit the home team's crossbar in the 64th minute.
After a lot of pressure, the Cambodian representative finally had a goal to shorten the score thanks to Patrick Monteiro scoring in the 81st minute. This foreign player made a great goal from outside the penalty area, sending the ball through 2 layers of Nam Dinh defense and flying into the net, surprising goalkeeper Caique.
In the final minutes of the match, Nam Dinh "poured concrete" and maintained the 2-1 victory. With the first 3 points, coach Vu Hong Viet's team ranked second in Group B of the ASEAN Club Championship 2025 - 2026.
After this match, Nam Dinh Club will host Cong An Ha Noi in round 5 of V-League 2025 - 2026 at home on September 28.
