Timely rescue many people from dangerous areas
Faced with the situation of prolonged heavy rain causing many communes and wards in Thanh Hoa province to be deeply flooded and isolated, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police force of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police quickly deployed plans, promptly bringing many people to safety.
According to information from the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department of Thanh Hoa Province Police, at 8:40 a.m. on September 29, the unit received a report from Truong Lam Commune Police about a household in Thong Bai village being completely isolated by rising floodwaters. Immediately after receiving the information, the unit mobilized 1 rescue vehicle, 1 motorboat and 7 officers and soldiers to urgently go to the scene. After more than 2 hours of trying to approach in stormy rain and strong currents, at 11:20 a.m. on the same day, the rescue force approached and brought 3 people (including 1 adult and 2 children) out of the dangerous area, ensuring absolute safety.
At noon of the same day, at about 11:15 am, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department received a report from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ngoc Lac commune about 13 people trapped at a pig farm on the alluvial plain of Lang Ngon river, Cao Phong village. Faced with the dangerous situation due to the rapidly rising floodwaters, the unit urgently mobilized forces and vehicles, including 1 jet ski and 15 officers and soldiers to the scene. Thanks to the synchronous, flexible and urgent deployment of rescue measures, by early afternoon of the same day, all 13 victims had been brought to safety.
The timely and drastic efforts of the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police force of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police have contributed to ensuring the safety of people's lives, demonstrating professionalism, mobility and readiness in response and rescue work.
More than 30 schools suffered heavy damage after the storm.
According to initial statistics from the Thanh Hoa Province Department of Education , more than 30 schools were flooded, had their roofs blown off, or were damaged... Among them were 3 kindergartens, 3 primary schools, 8 middle schools, 13 high schools, 3 vocational education centers, and continuing education centers...
Among them, Hoang Quy Secondary School, Hoang Phu Commune had the entire corrugated iron roof of 4 classrooms, the school's garage, and the stage blown away; all the main doors and windows were blown away; all the tables, chairs, and equipment of 6 classrooms and 1 traditional room were damaged; 1 set of speakers for the English classroom and 2 sets of portable speakers were damaged; 2 large rosewood trees were uprooted.
Hoang Phuong Secondary School, Hoang Giang Commune, had all the corrugated iron roofs of the classrooms blown off, the doors of the classrooms and the principal's office blown off, and the glass doors broken; all teaching materials and equipment were blown away, wet, and damaged; the school's gate and fence system also collapsed.
At Hai Long Secondary School, Nhu Thanh Commune, the storm caused a 50 meter fence of the school to tilt and collapse. The school, together with the authorities, collected materials and broken bricks, and cordoned off the area of the collapsed fence to avoid accidents.
Storm No. 10 accompanied by heavy rain completely isolated Xuan Quy Primary and Secondary School, Hoa Quy Commune, with water completely flooding the first floor of the school.
In the high school block, the storm caused dozens of meters of fences to collapse and dozens of trees to fall in the campus of Quang Xuong 1 and Tinh Gia 3 schools. All classrooms at Nong Cong 1 High School were deeply flooded.
At Nhu Xuan Vocational and Continuing Education Center, the first floor classrooms were flooded; 50 sewing machines and vocational practice equipment were flooded and damaged; the school gate and fence system also collapsed and broke. At Hoang Hoa Vocational and Continuing Education Center, storm No. 10 blew off the corrugated iron roofs of the sewing workshop and welding workshop; water flooded into the rooms and affected the equipment...
On the afternoon of September 29, the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa issued Official Dispatch No. 3648/SGDDT-VP on continuing to focus on responding to and overcoming the consequences of storm No. 10 and post-storm flood preparedness.
