At the meeting, Mr. Do Ngoc Hung - representative of Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications - said that there was a separation of management of the real estate area between Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications and Ho Chi Minh City Post Office .
"Russian Market" is just a brand name?
The fact that Ho Chi Minh City Telecom leases business premises to businesses is based on legal grounds. Mr. Hung added that “Russian Market” is just a brand name, not a market, so it is sometimes misunderstood as a traditional market image.
"After receiving the feedback, we asked the lessee to stop advertising this sign and remove the sign to avoid causing misunderstandings," Mr. Hung affirmed.

Regarding the proposal to open the traffic direction at the doors according to the current status of building block A (front of Nguyen Van Binh street), Ho Chi Minh City Book Street Company and Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications have agreed to reopen these 6 doors.
Mr. Le Hoang - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Book Street Company - shared that before, after VNPT stores on Nguyen Van Binh Street stopped operating, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street Company covered the doors with mobile backdrops to create more space.
However, Mr. Le Hoang is concerned that the current clothing stalls in The Box Market displaying sensitive products or encroaching on space, and handing out flyers would be inappropriate because the book street is a cultural space from activities to images.
“We never use the word book market, we just call it a book fair or exhibition space. The appearance of the sign 'Russian Market' makes us uneasy because the meaning of the word market is not suitable for the cultural landscape.
Although this building is not on the heritage inventory list, it is located in the core area of heritage works and architectural works, so it is necessary to calculate the type of goods to be brought in appropriately" - Mr. Le Hoang emphasized.
The ward has not processed business registration applications.
Ms. Le Tu Cam - President of the HCM City Cultural Heritage Association - shares the same opinion with Mr. Le Hoang, because many people assume this is an information - cultural space. Therefore, how to build and use the space to suit the cultural space is necessary, avoiding unnecessary public opinion.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Luu - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Architects - said that the conflicting public opinion originated from the name "Russian Market". Therefore, it needs to be handled skillfully so as not to affect people's vision and senses.
A representative of the People's Committee of Saigon Ward (HCMC) said that the HCMC Telecommunications building is in the process of repairing its current status, so the ward has not yet processed documents related to business registration.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City - said that people assume that the building owned by Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications is a cultural space, so doing something different will attract public attention and reaction.
"Although this building has not been classified as a relic, it is located in the core area adjacent to the heritage, so any activity needs to consider the impact on the general cultural landscape of the area," Mr. Minh Nhut shared.
According to the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, the department will synthesize the opinions to report to the Department's Board of Directors and send them to the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
