Teachers and students of Au Lau ward return to school after the flood

The Party Committee, government, people and schools in Au Lau ward (Lao Cai province) have united and urgently overcome the consequences of natural disasters, so that teachers and students can quickly return to school - maintaining normal teaching and learning.

Storm No. 10 caused heavy damage to Au Lau ward, Lao Cai province. Statistics show that the entire ward has more than 600 households flooded and had to be temporarily and urgently evacuated. Thanh Giang, Doan Ket, Dang Con, Dong Dinh, Hop Minh 1, Hop Minh 3, Hoa Quan, Duc Quan residential groups were all deeply flooded; in Thanh Giang and Doan Ket residential groups alone, up to 91 households had their property swept away by the flood.

Despite waking up, after only 2 days of rain and floods, the Party Committee, government, people and schools in the ward united and urgently overcame the consequences of the natural disaster, so that teachers and students could quickly return to school - maintaining normal teaching and learning.

Right after the flood, Au Lau teachers and students went to school.

At Au Lau Kindergarten, more than 200 students have returned to school; of which 30 families of students were flooded, 16 families were affected, with heavy property damage. In addition, 5 families of teachers and staff members' relatives also suffered damage due to the flood.

Immediately after the flood receded, with the support and cooperation of all forces, the school prepared all conditions to welcome students back to class, organized teaching and learning activities, and provided thoughtful care and nurturing; at the same time, the school also organized a Mid-Autumn Festival for students in a joyful atmosphere.

At Au Lau Primary and Secondary School, there are more than 40 staff, teachers and 824 students who still maintain the emulation movement "Teach well, learn well". Although many students have to cross muddy roads to get to school, many residential areas still have to struggle to overcome the consequences of floods, the teaching and learning atmosphere still takes place normally.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Long - Vice Principal of Au Lau Primary and Secondary School: Many students in the school lost their textbooks, notebooks, school bags, and school supplies; 24 students' families suffered heavy losses, along with 5 teachers' families whose houses were flooded or affected by landslides.

Faced with this situation, many teachers in the school proactively donated books, notebooks, and pens. Thanks to that, after only 2 days off, the first day of school had more than 96% of students come to class, and 100% of them had enough books and school supplies.
