Weather next week: Cold air, heavy rain in the North, flooding continues in many places

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of cold air, from about October 13 to October 16, the Northern and North Central regions will have rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms, and locally heavy to very heavy rain. Flooded areas such as Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, and Bac Ninh are also likely to be affected by this rain.

On October 17, the North will have scattered showers and rain. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind.

Floods on Thuong and Cau rivers are at alert level 3 and will slowly recede. Floods on small rivers in the Red River Delta - Thai Binh River continue to remain at high levels from alert level 2 to alert level 3, with some rivers above alert level 3.

Experts warn that serious flooding will continue to occur in the provinces and cities of Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Lang Son, and Hanoi in the next few days.

In the North Central region, water levels in the upstream of rivers from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh are likely to fluctuate, in the midstream of rivers they fluctuate according to reservoir regulation and in the downstream they tend to gradually decrease.

The highest water level on the Tien River at Tan Chau station is approximately at alert level 2; on the Hau River at Chau Doc station is at alert level 2.

From October 15-18, the wave height in the North East Sea will generally fluctuate between 2 and 3 meters. In other sea areas, the wave height will generally range from 1 to 2 meters.

The tide level at Vung Tau station (Ho Chi Minh City) is showing a downward trend. On October 11, the highest water level in Vung Tau reached about 3.9 - 4 m, which could cause flooding in low-lying areas along the coast, along rivers, and areas outside the dyke in the East of the South, which could be flooded in the late afternoon.
