According to Mr. Mai Van Khiem - Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of weak cold air combined with easterly winds from the subtropical high pressure circulation encroaching on the west, from October 13 to 15 in the North, mainly in the Northeast, the weather will change to cloudy with rain and moderate rain.

According to the data calculated at 3:00 p.m. on October 12, the forecast of accumulated rainfall in 24 hours is generally not too large (under 50mm), with very little possibility of causing flooding on river systems. The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting will continue to monitor and update if there are any unusual changes.

In addition, Mr. Khiem also noted that during this period, there may still be showers and thunderstorms that can cause localized heavy rain (30-50mm/h). Tomorrow, the flood on the Cau River at Dap Cau station will continue to decrease and be above level 1, the flood on the Thuong River at Phu Lang Thuong station will continue to decrease and be above level 2. In Hanoi, the flood on the Ca Lo and Cau rivers by 4:00 p.m. this afternoon has decreased below level 3.

According to the National Civil Defense Steering Committee, as of noon today, about 5,361 houses are still flooded, mainly in Bac Ninh with 4,100 houses and Hanoi with 1,261 houses. Flooding in these areas is forecast to last for the next 1-2 days.

Today (October 12), the area from Quang Tri to Lam Dong and the South will have moderate to heavy rain. The rainfall from 7am to 3pm is over 50mm in some places such as Dak Sin station ( Dak Nong ) 82.4mm, Ham Cam station (Lam Dong) 81.4mm, Gia Rai station (Ca Mau) 60mm.

It is forecasted that on the night of October 12 and 13, the area from Quang Tri to Lam Dong and the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 10-30mm, with some places having heavy rain over 80mm. During the thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
