Promoting the attraction of Taiwanese tourist market to Thanh Hoa

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On the afternoon of June 16, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DOCST) held a conference to promote the Taiwanese tourist market to Thanh Hoa.

Overview of the conference.

Attending the conference were comrade Nguyen Van Thi, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee; representatives of leaders of departments, agencies, branches, member units of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee; tourism enterprises inside and outside the province and representatives of press agencies, Taiwanese tourism enterprises.

Speaking at the conference, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi affirmed: Thanh Hoa is a land with rich potential for tourism development, with rich and diverse natural resources; a rich and unique system of tangible and intangible cultural heritages. In recent years, Thanh Hoa has always been in the top of the country in attracting tourists. Typically, in 2023, Thanh Hoa welcomed nearly 12.5 million visitors, ranking 4th in the country; in 2024, it welcomed over 15.3 million visitors, ranking 5th in the country. However, the number of international visitors is still very modest, accounting for only 4.2 - 4.7% of the total number of visitors to Thanh Hoa every year. Therefore, welcoming famtrip delegations to survey and evaluate services and products will help Thanh Hoa continue to improve services, build suitable products, tours and routes to attract visitors from the Taiwanese market in particular and international visitors in general to Thanh Hoa in the coming time.

Thanh Hoa province is committed to creating all favorable conditions for Taiwanese enterprises to access the market, survey products, and explore investment opportunities to develop high-quality services. At the same time, it hopes to continue to receive support and connections from diplomatic agencies, trade agencies, tourism associations and business communities on both sides.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and relevant agencies and units to urgently develop a specific action plan; maintain close ties with Taiwanese tourism businesses to promote effective cooperation, gradually expanding the international tourist market to Thanh Hoa.

At the seminar, Thanh Hoa province introduced its potential, advantages and current key product lines such as: sea tourism, community ecotourism and cultural tourism. Along with that, representatives of a number of tourism businesses in the province presented special tours, connecting typical destinations such as Sam Son coastal urban tourism area, Ben En National Park, Pu Luong community ecotourism area, Lam Kinh special national historical site, Ho Dynasty Citadel world cultural heritage... in the journey to explore Thanh land.

Many comments from Taiwanese tourism businesses expressed their impression of the natural beauty and cultural depth of Thanh Hoa. Along with that, suggestions were made about the possibility of cooperation, sharing tourist resources, organizing survey programs, joint promotion and digital support in destination communication.

In particular, some Taiwanese travel agencies have expressed interest in building tourism packages that combine heritage exploration, local cultural experiences and luxury resorts. The focus is on green tourism and experiential tourism, which are popular with the Taiwanese tourist market. According to the businesses, with a favorable geographical location, a relatively synchronous transportation system, and diverse tourism products, Thanh Hoa is fully capable of becoming an attractive destination for Taiwanese tourists in the near future.
