Community joins hands to overcome consequences
Prolonged heavy rains have caused serious flooding in many localities in Thai Nguyen province. Many schools have been severely affected, including educational facilities in Phan Dinh Phung, Quan Trieu, Gia Sang, and Quang Vinh wards.
However, with a proactive and determined spirit and the cooperation of the whole society, the work of overcoming the consequences of floods is being focused on by the Thai Nguyen Education sector, aiming at the goal of soon stabilizing teaching and learning activities.
One of the most severely affected facilities is Trung Vuong Kindergarten (Phan Dinh Phung Ward). Sharing with Education and Times, Ms. Tong Thi Hong Phuc, Principal of the school, said: "The entire kitchen area, boarding equipment, pumps, dish dryers, and gas rice cookers were completely damaged. Five classrooms were deeply submerged in water, causing all children's utensils and toys to be severely damaged. The medical room was also unable to avoid flooding. The total damage is estimated at about 1.5 billion VND."

Immediately after the flood receded, the school's staff and teachers received the attention and coordination of the Party Committee, the People's Committee of Dai Tu commune, the 97th Electronic Warfare Battalion, Military Region 1, to urgently start cleaning and disinfecting to ensure a safe and clean environment for preschool children to return to class soon.
At Quang Vinh Primary School (Quan Trieu Ward), water reached the first floor. Teaching equipment such as televisions and computers in the classrooms were damaged; the school yard and surrounding walls collapsed severely.
Ms. Ha Thi Quynh, the school principal, said: “By October 9, the water had only receded to waist level, but the mud was still thick and very difficult to clean up. In particular, 90% of teachers and students were flooded at home, so there was a lack of support staff to help with the recovery.”

In the face of the urgent situation, many schools have received support from the military, police, unions and sister units. Staff, teachers and parents have joined together to clean up, disinfect and stabilize the facilities.
At Quang Vinh Primary School, the support force effectively coordinated with the school to carry out general cleaning and disinfection of classrooms under extremely difficult conditions.
At the 19/5 Kindergarten (Phan Dinh Phung Ward), heavy rain and floods caused the school to be heavily flooded, and all school supplies were damaged.
Ms. Ca Nguyen Linh Phuong, Principal of the school, said: "The school received active support from units, especially police and military soldiers who worked tirelessly day and night in deep mud to wash, dry, and disinfect school supplies for children."

Efforts to bring students back to school soon
The proactive spirit was also clearly demonstrated at Tan Thinh Secondary School (Phan Dinh Phung Ward). As soon as the water began to recede, with the support of parents and neighboring schools, teachers quickly cleaned up the school. Thanks to that, on the morning of October 10, the school was bustling with the sound of drums again after many days of interruption.

Sharing the same spirit, at Na Ri Ethnic Boarding School, immediately after the flood receded on October 8, teachers and local people gathered to clean mud, wash tables and chairs, and ensure hygiene and safety for students.
Principal Nong Thi Tuyet said: “The school suffered mainly damage to its facilities and teaching equipment. Thanks to teachers proactively moving books to higher floors, most of the learning materials were preserved. However, students’ clothes were damaged because they were left on the first floor.”

In the context of natural disasters causing heavy damage, although there are many difficulties ahead, the consensus and sharing of the community, parents, teachers and authorities is a great source of motivation for students to soon return to their beloved school and continue their learning journey.
