Expected to reduce 12 districts and 624 communes by 2025

Information from the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the ministry has proactively urged localities to urgently develop a project to rearrange administrative units at district and commune levels for the 2023-2025 period.

Accordingly, 54/54 provinces and cities have completed the overall plan to implement the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels for the period 2023 - 2025.

Of which, at the district level, there are 49 units to be reorganized, after the reorganization, it is expected to reduce 12 units. At the commune level, there are 1,247 units to be reorganized, after the reorganization, it is expected to reduce 624 units.

Up to now, 18/54 provinces and cities subject to arrangement have sent documents for appraisal.

Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra said that the process of implementing the arrangement of district and commune-level units has encountered difficulties and problems regarding urban classification, administrative unit standards, administrative unit classification and implementation costs.

The Ministry has promptly coordinated with relevant ministries and branches to advise the Government to report to the National Assembly Standing Committee for consideration and issuance of resolutions according to its authority so that localities have a legal basis to ensure implementation on schedule (before September 30).

Miss H'Hen Nie joins in raising awareness about human trafficking crimes

The theme for World Day against Trafficking in Persons 2024 is "No child left behind in the fight against trafficking in persons," according to the British Embassy in Hanoi.

This year, this unit coordinated with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Tuyen Quang province to co-organize an event in response to the World Day against Human Trafficking at Tuyen Quang College of Technology.

Also participating in the event, singer Phan Manh Quynh and Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H'Hen Nie accompanied more than 500 students to enthusiastically cheer for the 4 teams of the contest "Propaganda to prevent and combat human trafficking and illegal migration".

The goal of the contest is to raise awareness among students, who are easily exposed to and affected by human trafficking crimes.

The British Embassy in Hanoi said that the co-organisation of this event also shows the British Government's commitment to working with the Vietnamese Government to gradually eliminate the problem of human trafficking.

According to data recently released by the Agoda platform, coastal and mountainous destinations are the most searched by tourists in the Vietnamese market for summer holidays from April to August, accounting for 80% of the top 10 searches.

In the hot summer weather, Vung Tau and Phan Thiet are the two most popular destinations, leading the search for "hot" coastal tourist destinations. Da Nang and Nha Trang are also highly searched locations thanks to their beautiful seascapes and cool weather.

This reflects the trend of domestic tourists to go to the beach in the face of the harsh sunlight. On the other hand, Da Lat also attracts a large number of tourists who love the cool climate of the mountainous areas.

The choice of coastal and mountain destinations not only reveals current travel habits, but also contributes to shaping overall travel trends, showing strong interest of domestic tourists in domestic destinations.

Fearing a measles outbreak, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health proposed additional vaccinations for children.

On June 20, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health submitted a document to the City People's Committee on the issuance of a plan to implement a campaign to supplement measles vaccination for children aged 1-5 years old in the area.

According to the Department of Health, as of June 9, the city has recorded 16 cases of measles in four districts. Of the 16 cases, 68.8% of children under 2 years old, 93.8% of children under 5 years old and 84.6% of children from 9 months to under 5 years old have not been fully vaccinated.

Thus, the number of measles cases is concentrated in children under 5 years old and it can be affirmed that children who have not been fully vaccinated are at high risk of contracting the disease.

The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control has assessed the risk of measles outbreaks in districts and counties. The results are: the entire city is at a very high risk level, two districts and counties with very high risk are Binh Tan and Hoc Mon, Cu Chi is at high risk, and the remaining districts and counties are at medium risk.

Therefore, there is a risk of measles outbreak and spread throughout the city if there are no timely measures to prevent it. Based on the above bases, the Department of Health has submitted a document to the City People's Committee to consider and issue a plan to implement a measles vaccination campaign in 2024 for localities to implement together.

The estimated cost for purchasing measles-rubella vaccines, measles-rubella solvents, training, and communications for the campaign is more than 4.3 billion VND.
