On the afternoon of September 29, at the National Convention Center (Hanoi), the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Post and Telecommunications sector (PTS), the 66th anniversary of the S&T sector and the 1st Patriotic Emulation Congress. General Secretary To Lam attended and directed the ceremony.
Attending the ceremony were former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh , leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, ministries, localities, and international guests.


This is the largest event since March 2025, when the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Information and Communications merged into the new Ministry of Science and Technology. The celebration is a reunion of many generations of leaders, scientists, and engineers who have been involved in the development of the industry. The event was attended by over 2,700 delegates, including nearly 2,000 retired officials from the two industries over the years.


In addition to the solemn ceremony, the event also features an exhibition of achievements of the Post and Telecommunications sector, and the Science and Technology sector, organized in a timeline structure, recreating the country's five historical periods, from resistance to construction and innovation, integration, towards a new era. Many typical artifacts will be displayed such as: weapons, telegraph machines, robots, nuclear reactor models, 5G equipment, radar, Vinasat-1 satellite... and other valuable artifacts.


At the exhibition area, the highlight is the digital museum, which stores data of more than 162,000 cadres of the two sectors through the periods. Visitors can look up information about themselves, their colleagues or leaders of each job. The memorial area is also built in a solemn position, containing information of more than 10,000 martyrs of the BC-VT and KH-CN during the resistance war.
The exhibition also features a set of 80th anniversary stamps and “golden books” recording characters, events and images along the way. The books are arranged in the shape of the number 80, symbolizing the journey of 8 decades and the aspiration to open new milestones.


Within the framework of the celebration, the Ministry of Science and Technology received the First Class Labor Medal; Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung will be awarded the First Class Fatherland Protection Medal. This is the recognition of the Party and State for the contributions of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Minister Nguyen Manh Hung personally.


The 80th anniversary of the Post and Telecommunications sector, the 66th anniversary of the Science and Technology sector and the 1st Patriotic Emulation Congress are not only occasions to express gratitude and pride for the past journey, but also an affirmation and commitment for the new journey. Today's generation of the two sectors carries the mission of continuing the glorious history with great aspirations, innovative thinking and a spirit of service.
With Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo as a guideline, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation will be the central driving force, the strategic breakthrough for Vietnam to break through, overcome the middle-income trap, and become a developed and powerful country.
