On September 24, Thai Binh Provincial Police said that the Investigation Police Agency had issued an order to detain in an emergency, urgently search the residence, workplace and personal vehicle of Mr. Dong Xuan Thu (52 years old), Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Environment and Urban Areas Magazine.

Also detained in the case were Mr. Thu's subordinates, including: Bui Van Toan (44 years old), Head of the Economic and Environmental Department; Cao Thi Thu Huong (35 years old), Accountant; Nguyen Ngoc Tuyen (35 years old), reporter and Nguyen Tat Trien (46 years old), reporter.

The Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Environment and Urban Magazine and his subordinates were detained by the police to investigate signs of the crime of Extortion, according to Article 170 of the Penal Code.

The above orders have been approved by the People's Procuracy at the same level.

The Investigation Police Agency of Thai Binh Province Police is urgently collecting documents and evidence, consolidating files, prosecuting, expanding investigations, and strictly handling the subjects according to the provisions of law.
