HCMC: Inauguration of a hospital worth over VND1,800 billion meeting international standards

On the morning of October 10, the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects for Civil and Industrial Works of Ho Chi Minh City held the inauguration ceremony of Cu Chi Regional General Hospital. This is one of many key works and projects of the city to welcome the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025-2030.

Attending the event were Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Van Thi Bach Tuyet; Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy; Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Nguyen Truong Nhat Phuong; leaders of departments, branches and hospitals in the city.

At the ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Van Thi Bach Tuyet acknowledged and commended the outstanding efforts of the Ho Chi Minh City Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board (City Management Board), affected households and related units.

The Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee shared: “In the joyful atmosphere welcoming the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, the City Management Board put the Cu Chi Regional General Hospital into use, not only to meet the medical examination and treatment needs of people in the homeland of "The land of steel and copper", but also to help people in neighboring and border areas have a spacious and convenient place for medical examination and treatment. This is also a clear demonstration of the determination of the City Party Committee and government in ensuring social security and taking care of people's health".

Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Van Thi Bach Tuyet suggested that Cu Chi Regional General Hospital continue to proactively and actively build plans to train, develop and retain high-quality human resources; take advantage of the comprehensive cooperation and support of end-line hospitals, especially Military Hospital 175 - Ministry of National Defense to build specialized procedures and techniques in medical examination and treatment for the people; raise the position of a gateway hospital to soon become a complete grade 1 general hospital, strive to become a regional trauma emergency center and a specialized stroke center with strong capacity and expertise.

To achieve the above goals, the Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee directed the City Management Board to promptly complete the bidding for a modern medical equipment package to hand over to the hospital, putting it into operation in January 2026.

Director of the City Management Board Vo Duc Thanh said that the project to build a new Cu Chi Regional General Hospital was started in 2021, with a scale of 1 basement and 13 floors above ground, on a land use area of ​​over ^60,000m2 . The total investment is over 1,850 billion VND, with a scale of 1,000 beds, designed according to international standards, landscape, spacious space and a helipad.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Director of Cu Chi Regional General Hospital, said that each year, the hospital examines and treats over 600,000 patients and successfully performs thousands of specialized treatments such as joint replacement surgery, spinal neurosurgery, interventional endoscopy, especially brain surgery - bringing a chance of life to many serious cases. On the foundation of the new hospital, with 20 specialized departments, 9 functional rooms, nearly 1,200 officials and employees, of which 64.2% of doctors have achieved CK1, CK2 and postgraduate degrees (18.8%)... we believe that the hospital will meet the expectations of the industry and the city in health care for the people.
