(CLO) On the morning of December 28, in Hanoi , the Vietnam Folk Arts Association held a ceremony to award the title of Vietnamese Folk Artist, award folk arts prizes and celebrate the longevity of elderly members in 2024.
Regarding the entries, the Association Office received 85 entries, belonging to 5 fields of culture and folk arts. Among them, there were members who submitted 2-3 entries, and in particular, there were members who submitted 6 entries. Comparing with the Award Regulations, the Preliminary Council selected 72 entries that were qualified to be submitted to the Specialized Council.
Prof. Dr. Le Hong Ly, Chairman of the Vietnam Folk Arts Association, spoke at the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Le Hong Ly, Chairman of the Vietnam Folk Arts Association, said: "This year, the number of works submitted to participate in the award has increased compared to last year, including many in-depth research works. Notably, after many seasons, this year we have a work that won First Prize.
This year's contestant submitted 2,375 A4 pages of "Words of Sorrow in Thai Funerals", describing the process of sending the soul of the deceased to heaven. Each mo was presented in ancient Thai script, a Thai transcription, and a Vietnamese translation. However, due to the lack of some information, it did not win a high prize. Although the number of entries increased compared to previous years, the number of entries with low prizes and those that did not win was also greater than in previous seasons."
According to the Organizing Committee, this year the First Prize has 1 project; Second Prize B has 1 project; 3A Prize has 5 projects; 3B Prize has 14 projects and the Encouragement Prize has 24 projects.
First Prize was awarded to the work "Old marks halfway up the mountain - a Ca Dong identity area" by member Nguyen Dang Vu.
Accordingly, the First Prize was awarded to the work "Old marks halfway up the mountain - a Ca Dong identity area" by member Nguyen Dang Vu. This is a large work, combining fieldwork, survey, research... carried out meticulously and scientifically . With a rich source of materials, mainly collected from the field, spanning many years, the author provides readers with a fairly complete picture of the Ca Dong culture in Quang Ngai from life cycle knowledge, agricultural knowledge to customs and practices, and deep spiritual concepts in human life.
The work was carried out by the author through scientific analysis and interpretation and with all his passion and appreciation for the cultural identity of an ethnic group.

Second Prize B is a collection of works introducing the Bahnar Epic: Bia Phu deo da (Bia Phu teo tomo), bilingual Vietnamese - Bahnar collected and compiled by member Nguyen Tien Dung, performed by artist A Luu, transcribed and translated into Vietnamese by A Jar. This is a fairly thick epic work in the collection of continuous epics of the Bahnar people in Kon Tum . The work has contributed to the collection of continuous epics of the Bahnar people in particular and the Central Highlands epic treasure in general.
In addition, the organizers also awarded prizes to other individuals who won the 2024 Folk Arts Award.
Within the framework of the program, the Vietnam Folk Arts Association also announced the list of artisans awarded the title of Folk Artisan in 2024, and at the same time, organized a longevity celebration for 52 artisans.
