Heroic memories recreated through modern technology
On an autumn afternoon in Hanoi , the National Exhibition Center (Dong Anh) is packed with visitors. The modern, spacious space, with dozens of booths of ministries, departments, localities, businesses, etc., makes viewers go from one surprise to another.
In particular, among that bustling crowd, there were many with gray hair, slow steps but eyes shining with pride. They were veterans who had experienced the flames of war, and now relived the memories of a time of fire and war in a different way - through artifacts, images, and realistic reproduction technology at the Exhibition area of 95 years of the Party Flag lighting the way, organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper.
In particular, Section 5 of the exhibition, with the theme "The Party's leadership in building and protecting the Fatherland (1975-1986)", recreates a special period of national history: After the country was reunited, the country had to heal the wounds of war and enter two battles to protect the southwestern and northern borders, while laying the foundation for the Doi Moi process.
Standing in front of valuable artifacts, documentary films and recreated images and sounds, 70-year-old veteran Nguyen Van Hao (from Bac Ninh ) seemed to return to history, reliving the heroic days.

“When liberating the country, from Hue, Da Nang and then advancing to Saigon on April 30, 1975, I always remember those moments. Today, visiting the exhibition, I was overwhelmed. The space is large, beautiful, dignified, majestic and very modern. The display using new technology makes it easy to access, easy to understand, clearly evoking the contributions of the Party, State and people in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland,” the veteran born in 1956 expressed.
Mr. Hao’s words evoke a sense of elongation in memories. From the fiery battlefield to today’s exhibition space, the time gap seems to have been shortened thanks to modern technology.
In another corner, former information officer Nguyen Huu Tuan (born in 1957, Thai Nguyen) recalled: “I participated in the fight to liberate the South and unify the country, from Quy Nhon to the Central Highlands and then directly participated in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign. Throughout that process, I was attached to the information industry. When we were studying to be officers, there had never been modern technology like today. Now coming here, seeing the grand exhibition, applying technology to display, I am very happy and very proud”.

“I can clearly see that the country is developing more and more. Especially the modern technology applied in the exhibition. Witnessing it with my own eyes, I am very happy and hope that the country will develop even more, especially in terms of technology. Visiting this place, I am even more proud and confident in the leadership of the Party, confident in the future of the country's further development,” he expressed.
Among the silver-haired guests at the exhibition, there were also female veterans. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (born in 1958, Hai Phong), who participated in the battle to protect the northern border, emotionally said: “I participated in the battle to protect the northern border of the Fatherland. Those years were extremely arduous and fierce, but thanks to the leadership of the Party, the solidarity and bravery of our army and people, we firmly protected every inch of the sacred land of the Fatherland.”
The exhibits and images on display evoke memories of a time of war and war, but also show that the country has overcome countless difficulties and gradually moved forward thanks to the Doi Moi process.
Ms. Lan added: “Coming to the exhibition today, especially visiting Zone 5, I was very moved. The images and artifacts on display not only evoke heroic memories, but also show the country's journey of overcoming difficulties and gradually moving forward thanks to the Doi Moi (Renovation) process initiated and led by the Party. The exhibition was organized on a large scale and in a modern manner, making our generation extremely proud.”

Ms. Lan’s words are like a bridge connecting the difficult past and the bright present. The days of fighting and sacrificing hardships at the border to protect every inch of the sacred land of the Fatherland have now become memories recreated in modern display language, for future generations to understand and appreciate.
Trust sent to the young generation
Zone 5 recreates the period from 1975 to 1986, when the country had just been unified and had to go through two wars to protect the border, and at the same time began to lay the foundation for the Doi Moi process. Visiting this area, veterans not only reminisced about the war but also shared their beliefs and hopes for the country's future with the younger generation.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hao, in the early years of liberation, the country still faced many difficulties and was underdeveloped, but from the 1980s onwards, under the correct policies of the Party and State, especially the Doi Moi process, the country has developed strongly and modernized day by day, especially in industry and science and technology.
Witnessing a large number of people, especially the young generation, coming to visit the exhibition, Mr. Hao further affirmed his belief in the future of the nation: "The future of the country will certainly develop on par with the times, becoming a rich and powerful nation. I am very excited and have absolute confidence in the leadership of the Party, which is gradually leading our people to modernize and innovate the country."

For this veteran, modern exhibition booths, robot models that communicate with visitors right in the exhibition, and advanced technologies applied... are the image of a Vietnam that is keeping pace with the world, moving towards the digital future.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan also affirmed that visiting the exhibition makes veterans like him more proud and confident in the Party's leadership, confident in the country's future development.
Through this, Mr. Tuan also sent a message: "What I wish most is that the younger generation do not tarnish the blood and bones that our ancestors shed, but continue to strive to bring the country forward." This is not only a message, but also a command from history, reminding today's generation of their responsibility to inherit and promote the achievements of previous generations.
This is also a heartfelt sharing from female veteran Nguyen Thi Lan: "I hope that young people always respect and preserve traditions, do not forget the sacrifices of their ancestors, and at the same time must study, practice, and grasp modern science and technology to build our country to be increasingly rich, strong, and civilized."
When the eyes of the soldiers of the past lit up with pride and confidence, the young generation today also feels more responsible. That responsibility may not be to continue to take up arms and go to war, but to study, practice, master science and technology, and integrate internationally to build a rich and civilized Vietnam.
It can be said that the 95th Anniversary of the Party Flag Exhibition not only recreates a historical period, but also raises a question for each visitor: What will we do to be worthy of that glorious past? The answer, in part, has been given by the veterans themselves: Let's preserve tradition, believe in the Party's leadership and constantly study and innovate to develop the country.
