From the decision of coach Kim Sang Sik

In the list of players called up to prepare for the match against Nepal, besides familiar pillars such as Van Khang or Dinh Bac, coach Kim Sang Sik called up a series of young faces spread across all lines, to join the Vietnam national team.

This is clearly not an impromptu experiment. The Korean coach’s decision shows a clear direction: to rejuvenate the squad and build a long-term foundation for the Vietnamese team, after a long period without many changes in personnel.

Many young faces were given their first chance by coach Kim Sang Sik in the Vietnam national team.

Mr. Kim Sang Sik, when he was in his home country of Korea, was known as a strategist who dared to use people and put his trust in young players. And now, in Vietnam, he continues to demonstrate that philosophy, in a quite correct way.

So, choosing Nepal, a weaker opponent to “test the fire” for the next generation is certainly the right and wise move. Because it not only ensures results but also creates an environment to accumulate practical experience for young players with the desire to conquer.

Has the time of the young come?

It is too early to say that a new "dynasty" of young players has really begun. However, the decisive actions and clear trust from coach Kim Sang Sik are the most solid basis for fans to believe in a generational transition happening in the Vietnam team.

The reason for such belief is because many veterans of the "golden generation" who made history for Vietnamese football are now starting to step into the other side of their careers.

But the young players will need to work hard if they want to take the place of their seniors.

Or having enough noble titles makes the desire to contribute of the veteran group also decrease as an inevitable rule. And when this happens, Mr. Kim Sang Sik or any coach must see that a revolution in personnel is needed.

However, the opportunity does not mean a path of roses. The young players need to be aware that, although their seniors may have decreased in physical strength or even performance, they are still far superior in experience, tactical thinking, and battle prowess.

Therefore, to be able to compete fairly for an official position, Van Khang, Dinh Bac, Nhat Minh, Hieu Minh, Xuan Bac... will have to make many times more effort, cherish every minute on the field to learn and prove their worth.

The opportunity was given by Coach Kim Sang Sik, but whether to grasp it and turn it into a turning point in one's career or not depends entirely on the individual's own courage and progress. The time for youth may not come immediately, but the dawn has certainly begun.
