U23 Vietnam received bad news after the semi-final match with U23 Philippines

Nguyen Quoc Viet entered the field to replace striker Nguyen Dinh Bac in the second half of the semi-final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament, between U23 Vietnam and U23 Philippines.

However, unfortunately, Quoc Viet was fouled by a defender of the U23 Philippines team in the extra time of the second half of this match. This player fell to the ground, appearing to be in great pain. This pain lasted until the end of the match.

After the match, coach Kim Sang Sik of the Vietnam U23 team revealed that Nguyen Quoc Viet suffered an ankle injury after the aforementioned collision with the defender of the Philippines U23 team. According to the Korean coach, Nguyen Quoc Viet must undergo a medical examination today (July 26) to know his condition.

The possibility of striker Quoc Viet playing in the final match is therefore still open. The final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament, between U23 Vietnam and U23 Indonesia will take place on the evening of July 29, at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (Jakarta, Indonesia).

If Quoc Viet cannot play in the final, this will be a big loss for U23 Vietnam. The player currently playing for Ninh Binh is a strategic card of coach Kim Sang Sik. Quoc Viet is often used by Mr. Kim as a replacement or change of personnel in the front line.

Besides Quoc Viet, another striker of U23 Vietnam, Nguyen Dinh Bac, is also not in good physical condition. Nguyen Dinh Bac showed signs of overload in the second half of the semi-final match with U23 Philippines and had to leave the field early.

Previously, Dinh Bac also did not play the full 90 minutes in the match against U23 Cambodia on July 22, in the group stage. This player entered the field in the second half of the match against the young team from the land of pagodas.
