On October 10, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang city announced that it had received many contributions from organizations and individuals to support people severely affected by storm Matmo.

Among them, the story of Hoang Le Bao Quyen, a 7/9 grade student at Nguyen Hue Secondary School, caused strong emotions when she and her mother donated more than 38.5 million VND from their piggy bank savings.

This amount of more than 38.5 million VND is from Bao Quyen's savings of more than a year. Sharing about her actions, Bao Quyen said she could not bear to see the images of houses and schools in Thai Nguyen and Lang Son provinces submerged in water, along with the scene of children and the elderly having to climb onto the roofs to wait for rescue.

"I felt so sorry for her that I asked my mother's opinion and decided to smash her piggy bank to support her friends and compatriots in difficulty," Bao Quyen said emotionally.

Ms. Le Thi Kim Vui, Bao Quyen's mother, said that the family regularly participates in charity activities, which has nurtured the spirit of mutual love in the child.

This is not the first time Bao Quyen has broken her piggy bank to donate. In 2024, she also did the same thing to help people in flood-hit areas. Her family fully supports Bao Quyen's kindness.

This amount has been received by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang city and will be transferred to the fund to support people in the North and North Central regions to soon overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.

Mr. Vo Thanh Phuoc, Principal of Nguyen Hue Secondary School, added that out of the total of nearly 206 million VND that the school supported, Bao Quyen and her family contributed 10 million VND.

After that, she continued to break her piggy bank and donated more than 38 million VND. So, after two times, Bao Quyen and her family have contributed nearly 50 million VND, expressing their desire to help their compatriots overcome difficulties.

Teacher Phuoc commented that Bao Quyen is a good student, sociable, friendly, studious and especially has a very valuable spirit of mutual love.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang city has launched a campaign to receive support for flood victims from October 7 to November 7.

Previously, on October 1, at the conference to review the implementation and results of 3 months of operating the 2-level local government model, the Organizing Committee also launched a campaign to support people in the North Central provinces affected by storm Bualoi.

Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, said the city will allocate more than 6 billion VND to support people in the North Central provinces to overcome the consequences of storms and floods.
