Compared to the 0-1 loss to U23 Qatar on October 10, acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh has changed a series of personnel in the starting lineup of U23 Vietnam in this rematch against the West Asian representative.
Reserve players or players who rarely played in previous matches were given opportunities, such as goalkeeper Nguyen Tan, defender Tran Nam Hai, Nguyen Tuan Phong, midfielder Nguyen Thai Son (captain), striker Le Van Thuan, or Vietnamese-American player Tran Thanh Trung.
Previously, Thanh Trung had played in the last 10 minutes of the first leg friendly match. He is one of the new players who has been attracting attention since the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers. At that time, coach Kim Sang Sik called him up for a "trial" but in the end, he was still removed from the U23 Vietnam squad.
With this lineup, U23 Vietnam had a shaky start and conceded 2 goals in the first half. Before the break, U23 Vietnam had a goal to reduce the score to 1-2 by Van Thuan.
In the second half, U23 Vietnam changed personnel with the appearance of key players such as Nguyen Van Truong, Pham Ly Duc, Viktor Le and Vo Anh Quan. The team immediately improved the game and scored an equalizer 2-2 thanks to Nguyen Quoc Viet.
Unfortunately, after that goal, U23 Vietnam conceded a goal and lost 2-3. After all, this was just a friendly match, an opportunity for the team's coaching staff to conduct tests to select more players for the 33rd SEA Games and the 2026 U23 Asia.
After the training trip in UAE, U23 Vietnam will board a plane to return home that same morning.
