Vietnam imported more than 17,290 cars in September 2025

(GLO)- According to data released on October 17 by the Customs Department, in September 2025, Vietnam imported more than 17,290 complete cars (worth about 402 million USD), an increase of 1,021 units (6.3%) compared to the import volume in August.

The number of completely built-up cars registered for customs procedures imported into Vietnam mainly originates from 3 main markets: Indonesia with 7,452 cars, Thailand with 4,279 cars and China with 4,095 cars; accounting for 92% of the total number of cars imported into Vietnam.

Among the imported cars, there were 12,599 cars with 9 seats or less, accounting for 72.8% of the imported cars of all types, an increase of 4.2% compared to August.

In addition, the number of imported transport vehicles in September was 2,282 units with a value of 66 million USD, down 13.8% in volume and 14.8% in value compared to the previous month. Of which, 1,426 vehicles originated from China and 812 vehicles originated from Thailand.

In the first 9 months of 2025, the number of imported complete automobiles of all kinds to Vietnam was 155,047 units, an increase of 24% over the same period in 2024; of which, cars with 9 seats or less were 117,081 units and transport vehicles were 19,988 units.

The value of imported complete cars in the first 9 months reached 3.42 billion USD, up 33.3%, equivalent to an increase of 884 million USD over the same period last year.
