VNPT – Qualcomm creates a connecting playground to promote innovation

On the afternoon of October 14, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group ( VNPT ) and Qualcomm Group officially launched the VNPT-Qualcomm Center of Excellence (VQEC). This is the first center in Vietnam capable of accessing and developing global core technology, playing an important role in enhancing Vietnam's position in the international digital technology value chain.

VQEC will focus on developing smart electronic devices, network devices and AI computing devices, contributing to the vision of Vietnam mastering core technology and reaching out to the global value chain.

Speaking at the ceremony, VNPT General Director Huynh Quang Liem said that the VQEC Center has a special significance in opening up a new space to develop 5G/6G digital infrastructure, cloud, data centers, from which there will be products serving the make-in-Vietnam ecosystem.

This is also the core of national innovation, connecting businesses - schools - research institutes - technology startups in the VQEC ecosystem.

“The establishment of the VNPT – Qualcomm Center of Excellence (VQEC) marks a strategic turning point in VNPT’s transformation journey to become Vietnam’s pioneering technology corporation (Techco). The center will be a place where Vietnamese intelligence and global knowledge converge, where VNPT and Qualcomm engineers together create smart electronic devices, network devices and AI computing, contributing to affirming the ability to master core technology and bring Make in Vietnam products to the international level,” emphasized VNPT General Director Huynh Quang Liem.

Mr. Akash Palkhiwala - Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer (CFO & COO), Qualcomm Corporation - said: "At the VNPT - Qualcomm Center of Excellence, we will strengthen cooperation, develop and commercialize advanced products and solutions, contributing to making Vietnam a regional technology hub."

As the core technology unit of VNPT Group in the field of industrial technology, VNPT Technology is responsible for building and operating the VQEC Center, aiming to become Qualcomm's Authorized Design Center in Vietnam.

In its development strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2035, VNPT focuses on three pillars, including: One is modern, safe and sustainable digital infrastructure, including 5G/6G networks, cloud computing, data centers and new generation connection platforms. Two is the ecosystem of digital products and services Made in Vietnam, serving the Digital Government, Digital Economy and Digital Society. Three is core technology mastered by Vietnamese people, from artificial intelligence, IoT, edge computing to semiconductor technology.
