Turning Ho Chi Minh City into a high-tech city

Not only is Ho Chi Minh City the largest economic center of the country, it is also gradually affirming its position as a leading city in innovation and technology application.

Within the framework of the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, the Department of Science and Technology (KH-CN) chaired and coordinated with units to organize the Science and Technology Exhibition at the Ho Chi Minh City Academy of Officials. The exhibition gathered nearly 30 booths with more than 650 products and solutions belonging to 11 national strategic technology groups, lasting until October 15.

Many advanced solutions

According to reporters, the atmosphere at the exhibition was exciting, with the participation of many leading corporations and enterprises, bringing advanced technology solutions, aiming to build Ho Chi Minh City into a smart and modern city.

In the exhibition area of ​​information technology, electronics, artificial intelligence (AI) and internet of things (IoT) products, large enterprises such as Viettel, CMC , QTSC or MobiFone introduced a series of products serving urban digital transformation, from smart management platforms, network security solutions, AI ecosystems to administrative robots and Edge AI camera systems. Not stopping at urban management utilities, technology also extends to the fields of health, education and finance - factors closely related to people's lives.

The smart medical exhibition area attracted special attention from many delegates with the appearance of the da Vinci Xi surgical robot and Modus V Synaptive applying AI, along with many IoT-integrated healthcare devices.

Another highlight was CT Group’s booth with a display of new-generation drones. In addition, a firefighting robot model capable of moving in small alleys, supporting the firefighting force, showed that the application of technology to serve the community is increasingly practical. Robots interacting with visitors also created a vivid experience.

At the exhibition, Associate Professor Dr. Le Quoc Cuong, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park (SHTP), said that SHTP's booth introduced a diverse strategic technology ecosystem with 25 typical products belonging to 5 strategic technology groups, including: semiconductors, advanced biotechnology, aerospace (UAV), robots - automation, and energy - new materials. In particular, in the semiconductor field, 3 "make in Vietnam" products applying modern MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) technology, such as current sensor chips, pressure sensor chips, biosensor chips..., opening up great prospects for biomedicine, rapid diagnosis and health, economy...

"SHTP is gradually affirming its role as the city's strategic technology center, moving towards a creative science and technology urban area, contributing to the goal of sustainable development and carbon neutrality by 2050" - SHTP representative confidently said.

In the field of financial technology, MoMo continues to affirm its pioneering position. Mr. Nguyen Ba Diep, co-founder of MoMo, informed that this platform currently serves more than 30 million users and nearly 500,000 businesses and small traders. Responding to the policy of national digital transformation, as well as the Politburo's Resolutions on private economic development, on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, MoMo is building a digital financial ecosystem and comprehensive digital transformation of financial services to serve both people and businesses based on transparent data, reliable connections and an autonomous technology platform integrated with AI.

"MoMo is building a set of solutions to support small businesses and business households in digital transformation and sustainable growth in the digital economy, such as iPOS.vn. This is a comprehensive management solution for the food and beverage industry (F&B), from operations, warehouses, invoices to multi-channel sales connections," said Mr. Diep.

Enterprises accompany Ho Chi Minh City

Au Lac Technology and Media Application Company Limited (Alta Media) also attracted attention at the exhibition when it brought a series of intelligent humanoid robots.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, representative of Alta Media booth, said that the company's display of technology products at the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress not only aims to introduce the creative capacity of Vietnamese enterprises but also demonstrates the spirit of accompanying the city in the digital transformation journey, towards building a modern, smart and civilized urban area.

"We wish to contribute a small part to the city's common efforts, where technology is applied to serve people, improve the quality of life and demonstrate the appearance of a dynamic Ho Chi Minh City, a pioneer in innovation," Mr. Cong expressed.

Mr. Minh Khoi, representative of Health Care Center (HCC), introduced the smart healthcare system, including a health measuring robot, HCC App applying AI and transdermal light technology to monitor biological indicators, early warning of disease risks. "The "active medicine" model that HCC is developing will help people manage their health periodically, contributing to promoting digital transformation and improving the quality of life in Ho Chi Minh City" - he revealed.

Enterprises participating in the exhibition expressed their hope that Ho Chi Minh City will continue to be the leading center of innovation in the country, where technology is widely applied in life and urban management.

According to Dr. Pham Nguyen Anh Huy, senior lecturer in finance at RMIT University Vietnam, the expansion of financial inclusion has made great strides in Vietnam over the past decade. Official figures also show that since 2020, the value of non-cash payment transactions has increased by more than 34%, in which many public sectors have completely gone cashless. Achievements in the field of Fintech have contributed significantly to improving financial accessibility in Vietnam.

"The success of mobile banking, QR code payments and e-wallets are truly remarkable steps forward" - Dr. Anh Huy acknowledged.

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City ranked 2nd in the country in the Local Innovation Index (PII). Ho Chi Minh City's creative startup ecosystem was recognized as 5th in Southeast Asia and 110th globally.

In the 2025-2030 period, Ho Chi Minh City sets a strategic goal of becoming an international innovation center, with the digital economy accounting for 30%-40% of GRDP and total factor productivity (TFP) contributing 60% to growth.
