The only island commune in the capital city has risen out of poverty and developed sustainable agriculture.

TPO - Minh Chau island commune - the only island commune of Hanoi capital, has seen the rate of near-poor households decrease year by year and by 2024 there will be no more poor households. From the emulation movement of good production and business, solidarity to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty, many households have expanded their production and business scale, created more jobs and have a stable source of income.

The 1st Congress of the Farmers' Association of Minh Chau Commune (term 2025 - 2030) recently held assessed the situation and results of the Association's work and the farmers' movement from 2023 to present, and set out directions, goals, and tasks for the term 2025 - 2030.

In the picture of socio -economic development in Minh Chau island commune, the rate of near-poor households decreases year by year and by 2024, the commune will no longer have poor households.

To achieve the above results, the Association always identifies the movement of farmers competing in good production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty as the central, core, and consistent movement in the Association's emulation movements.

In the period of 2023 - 2025, the whole commune has over 1,670 members registered for good production and business at all levels, reaching 100% of the target; through evaluation, 1,560 households met the standards, reaching 93%. Many households boldly expanded their production and business scale, creating more jobs and having a stable source of income.

During the past term, the Farmers' Association of Minh Chau commune was also a pioneer in building new rural areas and advanced new rural areas. Responding to this program, the Farmers' Association of the commune has promoted propaganda and mobilization of cadres and farmer members to actively participate in building new rural areas with specific and practical actions.

The Association has organized 10 training courses with over 300 members participating to improve professional and technical qualifications according to advanced production methods, ensuring quality products, reducing costs and increasing productivity; supporting seeds, production materials, vocational training for farmers, supporting and providing scientific and technical advice on livestock breeding, cultivation, using biological products in livestock breeding, and environmental treatment.

The Association has also maintained 4 economic models and built 2 new models, which are breeding cows and dairy cows with 24 participating members...

The 1st Congress of Minh Chau Commune Farmers' Association (term 2025 - 2030) took place on September 18.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Tien - Secretary of Minh Chau Commune Party Committee said that the Party Committee, the government and the Minh Chau Farmers' Association will be determined to make a large-scale farming area, develop high-economic agriculture, and must also digitally transform agriculture, cite geographical information clearly and transparently, use organic products, OCOP, etc. In addition, the commune will develop an experiential agricultural model, eco-tourism and ensure the environment is at its best.

Ms. Pham Hai Hoa - Chairman of the Hanoi Farmers' Association acknowledged that Minh Chau island commune has rich natural advantages, lots of green and potential for sustainable development. The implementation of the two-level government model along with the Farmers' Association being under the Fatherland Front at all levels opens up many opportunities for development, especially in implementing the motto "Digital Farmers - Green Agriculture - Green Environment".
