Identifying strong opponents of U23 Vietnam in the tournament in China

(Dan Tri) - The Chinese Football Association (CFA) confirmed that four teams will participate in a friendly tournament in the country of a billion people next November. Of these, U23 Vietnam is one of three invited teams.

To prepare for two important tournaments taking place consecutively, the 33rd SEA Games (December 2025) and the U23 Asian Cup (January 2026), U23 Vietnam will participate in a friendly tournament in China in November.

The above information has been confirmed by the Chinese Football Association. In addition to the U23 Vietnam team and the host U23 China, there are two other teams participating in the tournament: U23 Korea and U23 Uzbekistan.

In fact, these are all familiar opponents of U23 Vietnam. In March, the U22 Vietnam team (the core of the current U23 Vietnam team) participated in a friendly tournament in Yancheng (Jiangsu, China). In that tournament, coach Dinh Hong Vinh's team also faced U22 China, U22 Korea and U22 Uzbekistan.

That was the tournament where U22 Vietnam played very well when they tied all three teams. Even if they had not lost the victory in the friendly match with U22 China, U22 Vietnam could have won the tournament championship.

Anyway, competing with the continent's top youth teams will help the U23 Vietnam players gain more experience before entering major tournaments.

The entire U23 Vietnam team recently had a training trip in the UAE. Here, the team played two friendly matches against U23 Qatar and suffered defeats with scores of 0-1 and 2-3.

Because the friendly tournament in China takes place during FIFA Days (national team gatherings according to FIFA's schedule) in November, coach Kim Sang Sik cannot lead the team. Instead, assistant Dinh Hong Vinh will continue to lead the team. In addition, U23 Vietnam may not have a few outstanding faces such as Dinh Bac, Khuat Van Khang, Thanh Nhan because they are busy with the national team. At the same time, the Vietnamese team will compete with Laos in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Vietnam U23 aims to win the 33rd SEA Games Gold Medal and pass the group stage of the Asian U23 tournament. At the Asian tournament, we will be in the same group with Saudi Arabia U23, Jordan U23 and Kyrgyzstan U23.
