The report of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health at the Conference announcing the results of implementing electronic medical records and standardizing the city's health sector's data warehouse at the end of September presented some thought-provoking figures: Currently, 153/164 hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City have implemented electronic medical records (reaching more than 93%); in particular, the public hospital sector has achieved a rate of 100% according to the roadmap. In the non-public sector, 80/90 hospitals have applied electronic medical records.

Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, emphasized that this is an important milestone in the journey of digital transformation in the health sector, contributing to modernizing management, reducing administrative procedures and improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for people. According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, with a scale of 164 hospitals, 38 regional medical centers, 168 commune health stations and 296 stations, 10,627 clinics, the synchronous implementation of electronic medical records is a huge challenge.

Digital transformation is the application of advanced technology, especially now with the added power of artificial intelligence (AI), to meet two goals: Reduce administrative work of officials and employees and improve the efficiency of the management apparatus; improve user service experience - for state agencies, this is the people. However, according to experts, priority must be given to improving the experience of serving people. Digital transformation is only successful and brings real results when people are the focus, the main subject for any activity.

Currently, the procedure for medical examination has improved, bringing many conveniences to people, but many steps still need to be improved. Although automatic registration kiosks are convenient, they are not stable, patients still have to bring their own medical records to each hospital. In the digital transformation era, with just a health insurance card, ID card or personal identification number, patients can register for examination at any hospital via the VNeID application. When doing a test, the results will be automatically sent to the doctor, helping patients not to have to wait. Electronic prescriptions are also automatically sent to the dispensing department and can be transferred to the patient's email or social network account, making it easy to track and receive medicine quickly.

The health sector needs to build a system of interconnected medical records between facilities, helping doctors look up medical history anytime, anywhere, so people do not have to carry many records when going to the doctor. Digital transformation must be substantial, starting from the smallest things, always putting the patient at the center to serve most effectively.
