The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) sent a congratulatory letter to the Vietnam U17 women's team after winning the right to enter the final round of the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship, and also thanked the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for successfully organizing the Group D qualifying round in Ho Chi Minh City.
In the letter, AFC wrote: “Congratulations to the Vietnam U17 women's team for their excellent performance in winning the top spot in Group D in the qualifying round and officially qualifying for the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship Finals in China. The players' determination and dedication were clearly demonstrated in each match.”
Also in the letter, AFC sent sincere thanks to VFF and the local organizing committee for their careful preparation and professional operation of the tournament, ensuring all organizational work took place smoothly from October 13 to 17 in Ho Chi Minh City.

“The dedication, efforts and professionalism of the VFF and the local organizing committee are very commendable. The AFC also appreciates the warm welcome given to the delegations of officials and teams participating in the tournament,” the letter stated.
Under the leadership of coach Okiyama Masahiko, the Vietnam U17 women's team won all two matches in Group D, defeating Guam and Hong Kong (China) respectively, thereby officially winning a ticket to the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship Finals. This ticket also helped the Vietnam U17 women's team become the 5th team to qualify for the continental finals.
The AFC's congratulatory letter is not only a recognition of the professional achievements of the Vietnamese youth team but also an affirmation of the professional and methodical organizational capacity of the VFF and the host locality.
This success contributes to enhancing the image of Vietnamese football in the eyes of regional and continental friends.
