Elderly men and women eagerly attend the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Senior Swimming Tournament

(NLDO) – Nearly 200 middle-aged and senior athletes participated in the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Senior Swimming Tournament, held to celebrate the "Action Month for the Vietnamese Elderly".

The 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Senior Swimming Tournament took place on October 23 and 24 at the Ho Chi Minh City Aquatic Sports Center, gathering nearly 170 athletes who are members and seniors who regularly practice at clubs, sports centers and non-professional units in wards across the city.

The tournament aims to raise awareness and spirit of health training in the elderly community, thereby effectively implementing the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" for the period 2021-2030.

Through this playground, the HCM City sports sector hopes to build a favorable environment for the elderly to participate, interact, have healthy entertainment and exercise, motivating them to continue to promote their role as "tall trees and big shade" in building a strong Party, government, new countryside and civilized urban areas.

This is also an opportunity to honor and encourage the spirit of spreading the movement "Old age - Bright example", where each competition is a testament to the enduring vitality and optimistic spirit of the previous generation.

The tournament is not only an opportunity for athletes to exchange and compete, but also an activity that spreads profound humanitarian meaning, affirming the City's concern for the spiritual and physical life of the elderly. The event promises to bring a vibrant, joyful and energetic atmosphere, conveying the message: "Live healthy, live usefully - still shine in old age".

The first day of competition ended in a vibrant and energetic atmosphere, with dozens of competitions in the age groups 40 - 44, 50 - 54, 60 - 64, 70+. Senior athletes from many units brought persistent, disciplined and passionate performances.

Temporarily leading the overall ranking is Hoa Hung Ward Cultural - Sports Service Supply Center with 9 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals.

Following are the delegations of Phu Nhuan, Khanh Hoi, and Tan Son Nhat with many impressive achievements in age groups and competition events.

Accompanying the swimming event for the elderly as well as showing concern for the swimming team, the city's rowing team, Dong Phuong Development Import Export Company Limited with the Kingsport brand gave many meaningful gifts to athletes who won gold medals in the swimming competition, and donated training support equipment to the swimming team and rowing team.
