After the flood, all the streets and residential areas in Thai Nguyen were flooded with mud, plastic bags, household waste and even animal carcasses. The environment was polluted, and the risk of disease outbreaks was very high if not handled promptly.

Faced with that situation, the Student Association of Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy quickly established volunteer shock troops, coordinated with local authorities and youth unions of communes and wards to support people in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.

In green volunteer shirts, young people do not hesitate to wade through mud, collect bags of trash, and sweep away thick patches of mud in residential and public areas.

Sharing about this activity, Tran Thi Xuan - a student of class YK5K, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said: The day after the flood receded, we divided into groups to clean up many areas in Phan Dinh Phung ward. Although the amount of waste was large, everyone was very enthusiastic, because they felt that what they did was really meaningful to the community.

Floods following the historic storm Matmo have caused serious consequences in Thai Nguyen. The School Youth Union Executive Committee has established a post-storm relief team, attracting nearly 1,000 student volunteers to participate. The School Youth Union mobilized students to areas in need of support and participated in environmental cleanup.

Mr. Ha The Duy, Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, expressed: Activities such as cleaning up flooded areas, distributing free meals and disseminating knowledge on disease prevention after floods have contributed significantly to helping people quickly stabilize their lives. This is also a way for medical students to demonstrate their sense of responsibility and volunteerism for the community.
